Warranty Declined for Semi-Synthetic Oil

If i was you, find a news station (local to that dealer) and complain. here in pa , I few stations have action reporters that would eat this alive and you would have your engine in a heart beat. as if one station picks it up, the rest will fallow and "word of mouth" spreads like wildfire.

someone should alert the local media that they are using fake people for purportedly real testimonials. at least half are confirmed stock advertising photos.

Usining Semi Synthetic during one OIL change should not have caused any damage. That's like the Y2K BS back in 2000. Nothing happened. Firestone and other shops use nothing but Semi Synthetic or full synthetic. That is why I take mine to the Stealership so they can't make any excuses.

Just heard from Mazda- Now they are saying that if I pay for the engine to be torn down, and if they find that the engine failure is due to something they did, they will pay for the engine replacement costs. I'm not sure how they expect to prove or disprove this. I'm sure that it will turn out in my favor- right and I'll get that free coupon for a new RX8 if the engine goes again. As the Mazda dealer said, "how can they prove that oil was the cause of a lost engine. Sounds like they're just passing the buck and they should step up to the plate." These engine problems have been well documented, so much so, that Mazda increased their warranty. Now they have to fullfill it.
At any rate- I have asked for reason for denial in writing (use of a semi-synthetic oil). I have been asking for this for two days now. I'll keep everyone posted.

This makes me wonder if the dealership is just pulling your leg and trying to get cash from you.
I would tell them that if they can't address this, you will take it up directly with Mazda North America. Just go over the dealer's head. I have heard of others doing this. As long as you can provide documentation of regular maintenance and are pleasant, Mazda NA will likely take care of you.

the biggest problem with these "WARRANTY DECLINED" is that if Mazda not doing anything, like not responding/keep dragging/not returning calls. there is really not much you can do about it.
The only thing is take them to court which most people probably would not bother and end up just hate Mazda for life (and their friends/family)
There is a reason why Toyota/Honda/Nissan is always on top of the Japanese automakers, cuz they usually don't deny warranty claims ---- don't get me wrong, it does happen, but not as often as Mazda/Suzuki/etc. and you get a lot of loyal customers who can swear their mother's life on the brand.
I guess not that many people in MNAO thought about the above.

Hi everyone- sorry to take so long to update as all of you have been simply OUTSTANDING! I was out of town this weekend but now I'm back. I'm sorry to inform everyone I wasn't driving my RX8, as that's still in the shop.
I do have some updates... (drum role please)
...my update is that MAZDA has still yet to contact me or send me the denial letter promised early last week. We were discussing the lack of response here at work and we're thinking either MAZDA no longer has phone or email service or they're hoping that I go away.
At any rate, I'll keep you posted as I have a few things in the works.

yep call the local news tell them whats going on and tell them you can prove their whole testimonial website is a sham. It should get their interest.

Each district has their own Mazda representative. Have you by any chance talked to the service manager at the dealership? They usually have direct contact with these reps and I would try and arrange a meeting/phone conference with them. I think you are doing the right thing so far, but like everyone else mentioned, its time to try to increase visibility. Also, I would honestly try going to other Mazda dealerships and explaining what is happening. Someone will surely have a good connection to a Mazda contact, especially if they have been with that company for a while. I would call up your neighboring Mazda dealers, ask to speak with the service manager, and give him a bit of a tiny synopsis of what is going on and ask him if you could meet, this way they aren't overwhelmed with you showing up. Sounds like your dealership is trying to help you, but maybe they just aren't doing enough compared to what another dealership would do. Also, if you know of a dealership that is a joint Mazda/Ford/Chevy dealership I would suggest getting to those, they are usually the bigger branches and have a higher corporate visibility.

I have here a service statement from an official Mazda garage here in the UK for a service we had done at the end of last month. What does it say I hear you ask?
CARRY OUT 50,000 MILE SERVICE TO MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATION.
CARRIED OUT 50,000 MILE SERVICE TO MANUFACTURES SPECIFICATION.
OIL 5W/30 SYNTHETIC
If a Mazda MAIN dealer here is filling ours with FULL synthetic then your dealer is pissing in the wind trying to deny you warranty work from one semi-synth change!

Hi Everyone,
There has been some motion on getting my vehicle repaired as some of you know off line. I'm just waiting for completion of the project (about 3 weeks) before I share the entire story with everyone. Please be patient and I'll keep you posted. Thanks again to everyone, you guys are the best!

I hope it all works out in your favor.
Makes me very glad to have a good local dealer. I just got my car back from them. I had a leaking expansion plug and while they replaced the plugs(all of them for good measure) they noticed a rear main seal leak. Without even asking they contacted Mazda and got them to pay for it under the Core Engine Warranty, was a nice surprise to pick it up and see they found and fixed a problem for me free of charge.
