Someone was picked last month.

 

Hey Everyone, so, I just got my C&D October Edition and the article this request was for is finally in print. I have been excited for it to hit news stands since I got to be a part of this awesome experience. They haven't put it in the features section on caranddriver.com yet but you can get the hard copy at news stands. Overall, they had great things to say about the 8 and once the article goes up online I think they'll be tons more pics.

Thanks! - I did everything I could to get her dressed up for the photo shoot so the RX would look good for the car community.

Any 8 on the track just looks too cool

 

hah, ya thats for sure, that bmw m coupe is kinda butt ugly though ^_^ i think they should have stuck with a roadster on that car... But anyways ya its hard to believe your 8 is an 05, and yet still that clean...

 

congrats on the feature. I still find it amazing that for such a reasonable price the 8, is one of the best looking cars available.

 

I got my Oct. 2009 C&D and thawk97's 8 is shown and mentioned in the one page devoted to the RX-8. It was a fair write-up IMHO, balancing the pros and cons of the 8.

thawk97's 8 looks very sharp! It mentioned you had all-season tires on it. What do you have on your 8? Thought about getting summer tires? Thank you for representing the 8 community and the RX8club.

The article was "The Best Cars (New or Used) For $20,000" and the Mazda3 was selected as as well. Mazda cornered 2 of the 10 choices.

The Trailblazer SS, however, is a dubious pick and the Mercedes CL600 was laughable as this example's maintenance and unreliability is making up for the lower cost of entry.

 

I have yokohama YK520's on the car. I really want to switch to a set of summers and winters but it's just too expensive to get another set of wheels right now...

I got the October issue [first time in years I picked Car and Driver].


I think they said what most of us knew already in that these are good cars but don't look for it to be the fastest thing on the street in a straight line.


I guess the spec's they had listed were from their 2004 test as the 0-60 was 5.9 seconds.
How could anyone call that slow in the real world?
Plus they listed the weight as being less than 3000 lbs whereas Mazda has it at about 3050.
Another plus in my book.

Yeah - the photographer liked that - I did notice on my last wash the corner of one of the 8's was starting to peel off though
