Now I have to get the trunk and rear fener and front bumper repainted. It sucks...now my rates are gonna go up. Its going to be my first claim with insurance. Oh well....I pay for insurance, I might as well use it.

It is sad that this kind of thing happens; my wife’s 2004 Cayenne S was keyed at a Publix parking lot here in Miami (We live in a good neighborhood). She was parked in a stroller spot with a permit and was with my 2 year old daughter grocery shopping when some envious SOB keyed the car for absolutely no reason (The wife was very upset and felt almost violated)... Since then I sold it and bought her a completely loaded Mazda MPV to keep away the attention...
That is another reason I have decided to keep the eight for weekends and shows (She is a little more visible now with all the mods), she is now safely parked in the garage and gets out on nice days...
Sorry, wish all people were better than that…

I feel ya.
Someone keyed my hood, right around the rotary shape. It's not super deep.....hairline in fact, but it's irritating and a reminder of people's hate.
I haven't gotten it fixed yet...not sure it's worth the deductable...

My previous car (Firebird) was keyed in San Jose, CA as well.
While I was at my gf's, my ex-ex-.. came by and put ~ 24 long scratches on it, both sides.
She called us while I was at the gf's house and recommended to 'check on my car', that's how I know it was her... no proof for the cops.
Insurance paid $1500, I paid $500 :-(

My general theory for vandalism in California and the metro areas (Bay Area, LA) in particular is that there's more stress on people than in rural Nebraska. The state is in the red, no money, cuts everywhere.. so also more poverty lately.

I have been keyed before and after talking with my insurance agent I found out some interesting info..you have two types of coverage..collision and comprehensive. collision covers your car if you cause an accident and comp covers your car for acts of nature, vandalizm..etc. usually claims to your comprehensive does not cause your insurance rates to go up since its not your fault. I raised my premium on my collision to 1000 and lowered the comp to 200 and I am actually paying less per month on my insurance..I figure if I cause the accident I will pay the 1000 out of my own pocket but if I get keyed that will only cost me 200. my deductibles were 500 and 500 before... this will not hurt the wallet as bad if someone wants to be an a-hole and get key crazy.

2010 Prius - Miss the 8
I doubt anyone would want a Mazda emblem ... nor is it the trend to wear it like they did back in the early 90's. So no real threat of that happening... either way I'm debadged anyhows :P
Coincidentally I caught someone keying some guys car at the mall this past weekend... of course the Jackhole in me had to intervene, got the guys license plate number as he was driving away and left a note on the keyed owners car. I didn't have time to confront the guy since it was other the other side of the barrier... and besides he was huge (chubby) hispanic guy. I'm just a tiny Asian guy.
Man I'm so asking for it if this guy hunts me down and keys my 8. Luckily it's not my neighborhood... Glendale Galleria Mall.

Damn! This happened in San Jose!?! I live 30 minutes away, but I never take my 8 when visiting friends and family there. Although my reasons are mostly traffic related (crazy f'in drivers in San Jo), I am always apprehensive about driving my 8 there, so I take my 1991 Toyota Previa!

Yo, I used to live up in San Jo, in fact I grew up there, and its not bad at all! It makes me wonder where you live if it is so bad you can't even drive your 8. You probably wouldn't last in the streets of LA. I think you have to live in the real world to get a dose of reality and grow some cajones just to drive! Why even get the car???
