Uhh...Premix...News to me...

Ok, so I was reading through the discussion forums as usual checking up peoples problems and such and read about "PREMIX" I had my car since last September and always filled up my car for the best Octane Gas..and just found out I have to pour this premix....what is it?
I live in Boston, what do you guys recommend? I use 5w20 also, but was told by one guy that lives in NYC, to use 5w30... and my try that after I get an oil change...
