the impact just must not have been forceful enough on the sensors to make them deploy. it isn't like there are any major dents/damage like a hard impact would produce (think t-bone or decent front end impact).

Yeah she hit it too far toward the front for the side airbags and too far to the right for the front air bags and the force from slide wasn't enough to deploy the driver side curtains I said the same thing like WTF I slid 30 ft and could get one airbag lol but the car did it's job I am alive sore as hell but alive

I need some rim and exhaust money outta her.... Maybe even a turbo lol

I honestly didn't know you could buy a car back from the insurance company once they totaled it.
Will you have the ability to negotiate the amount you get from the insurance company cause you should get more than 15k out of it.

You buy it from them with a salvage title ppl do it all the time....but really you think I could get more we (me and my parents) were thinking the 15k was pushing it I need at least 15k just to have enough change left to buy a new one, most of the ones in my area are between 13-18 and that's what I am gonna tell nationwide it's hard to find one in the condition mine was in with the mileage as well and the options the one I was looking at was 16 almost 17 which I may can get them down to 13 or so I started at 15 and got it down to 11,900 with the first one

I am just afraid now that all the ones I like will be gone by the time I get my payoff

you have to watch the state you live in through because they might make you go through hell to get a salvaged title back on the roads...

honestly i would go for a new one. Even if you fix this one, it may not feel the same as it once did.
The frame could be off by a little.

And dont be affraid to drive way down VA either to buy a rx8. I did...

oh no i wasn't planning to drive the car ever again, the guy wanted to buy the car from me so that he could get it fixed and drive it, i am getting another rx8, i told him i would consider it depending on how much they charge me to buy it back and how much he was willing to buy it from me

but yeah i came across a few in VA but so far the list of like 12 i had on autotrader is already down to 8 adn my mom thinks i should get a heavier car since this one flipped over like that, i did come across a speed6 but they are so ugly compared to the 8

but we shall see i will be posting updates as the week progresses

the 8 is the best car on the road in america that has the least roll over rate. Yours went on its side but didnt completely flip onto the roof. Its also a very safe car, I would get another 8 before anythign else...

The car has everything but good mpg and torque

no i love the 8 i am buying another one no doubt about, if i switch cars it would be in the mazdaspeed family......but thats a last resort.........

i read the thread about the year to year changes but it just confused me more since i didn't get the answers i was looking for like

i came across a few 8s that were considered to be GTs but they didn't have a wing, just the leather seats, and were the rotary accents just something extra that you could get installed at the dealership

i really just want the wing and sunroof.....but it doesn't seem like a particular model came with those, like the touring adds the sunroof according to the spec sheet but it didn't say anything about the wing or rotary accents

The wing, accents, front lip, side flairs, etc. are all part of the appearance package and can come on or be put on any 8. No certain model comes with all of them standard. They can all be had after the fact, but are pretty pricey for what they are.

Good luck finding your next 8!

a GT is also anything with leather, traction control, LSD, DSC. Hell if you can take say 15-18k payout of your current car. Talk a dealer down to about 24-26k go get a r3

No sunroof though

you need to remember too, the older the car and less miles means more trouble than more miles on the car. Just a little rotary owner info. To insurance and dealers less miles means better, but not always with our cars.

If i saw a 04 with less than 20k I would walk away in a heartbeat..

I am a huge supporter of the phantom blue but I don't know about that one. If I see that someone has painted the badges and the rims I wonder what else they have tried to "mod". You can also find cars with a lot less miles for less. Good luck on your search

Good luck, man. I don't think $15K is a terrible offer, but it doesn't hurt to state your case and try to do better. As for selling the car back, that may be a bigger hassle than it's worth. Some of these autobody guys are scammers. If you can make a buck on it, go ahead. I don't think it would be worth the hassle to me.

yeah it just seems like extra drama.....if he is that interested he can go follow it to the junkyard and buy it from them......but i am gonna counter-offer to nationwide b/c my car was in excellent condition and its gonna be hard to find another one for the price i paid with the amount of miles, so they need to give me more money.......i really want this to be painless but i know it would be

Its also the location where you live that decides the market price.. Around the MD, DC, VA area its very expensive. Esp MD and DC. You can talk them down but also its very hard. All the sales man around here do not want to work with you they are just money hungry.. Example when I was getting my 8 about 18 months ago. I was going to purchase a 04 WB with 30k they were asking for 18k.. I was like what?? I offered them 15k cash in hand at the moment and they would'nt budge. They said they would not even take off $250. I said your loss walked away. 3 months later they never sold it called them again with my offer they said no again, sold it at auction about a month later.

I ended up purchasing a 05 VR with 30k miles for 14k. Asking price was 15,500. If it wasnt for the fact that the dealer was 160 miles away and I put a deposit on the car day after they listed it so they would not sell it before I got there. Plus I had cash no loan bs. They were able to work with me.

Moral of the story, around this area its hard to get a good 8 deal. Wish I lived out in the midwest, I could walk away with a great 8 under 10k. That does not happen here period..

I wouldnt care if the wheels were painted, but I would have to over look everything and go through my stage of checks before buying.

not too bad looks pretty good. I would try my best to get it for 12,500 the day i walk in. But that would be a tough sell. They are already the cheapest in the area...
