U-turn gone wrong

So my rx-8 got flipped on its side this morning when a lady decided to make a left uturn from the right lane :dunno: what she was thinking but caused my 8 to flip and slide 30ft on its driver side

i attached the only picture i had in phone......have to get the rest from my mom's phone

i am so pissed right now already starting my search for another 8

The Reverend 07-23-2010 05:07 PM

sorry man hope you are okay.

...just a logistical question did you climb out of the moonroof?

VashGS 07-23-2010 05:09 PM

Wow glad your ok. Does this vehicle have DSC? Tires blow? More details plz.

Razz1 07-23-2010 05:09 PM

That's not totaled.

04MT_JAC 07-23-2010 05:15 PM

yeah i had dsc i don't even remember if it went off or not
the damage is done to the front right bumper and the entire driver side is ruined and the doors are stuck shut, driver door won't open at all, passenger opens a little bit

i tired to get through the sunroof but it was too small lol
some passerby's came over and helped me climb out of the passenger side

i wasn't there when they flipped the car upright but the officers said its probably gonna be totaled from the pictures i saw its not a simple fix and like on the driver side near the wheel well the metal crumbled up

and the car is scraped and dented from the front left bumper to the rear driver tail light and driver side mirror fell off as well and some other plastic fell off the car too.....i will try to get the other pics up soon

Manic Mechanic 07-23-2010 05:27 PM

Sorry to see. Glad you're ok.

04MT_JAC 07-23-2010 05:39 PM

thanks, the left arm hurts, thats all besides that i am good
i miss her already....already found some replacements if i need to go that route

jasonrxeight 07-23-2010 05:54 PM

sooo it was her fault or yours?

04MT_JAC 07-23-2010 06:01 PM

its all on her, the cops told her that at the scene
but something fishy is going on with her insurance....i am letting nationwide handle it

Krazed_Rx8 07-23-2010 06:11 PM

Wow GL

dshiznit1489 07-23-2010 06:12 PM

Wow, glad you're okay.

9krpmrx8 07-23-2010 06:37 PM

Wow, I can't visualize how this happened.

Mazurfer 07-23-2010 07:05 PM

That sucks!
Glad you are okay though!
Get those other pics up when you have time, so we can see the damage.

Roidz 07-23-2010 07:17 PM

Holy crap. That sucks. Good luck finding another one if you have to go that route.

yeah the cops were like they wish that intersection had a camera because they can only imagine how the accident happened.....they just keep saying man she messed up a beautiful car......and that i was probably more worried about the car than myself which was kinda true....i was just tryna figure out how i was gonna get out and i am so lucky no cars was coming the opposite direction when i went through the intersection cuz things could be much worse........the lady called and apologized and wanted to see if i was ok, she said she didn't see my car and didn't know what she was thinking

newguy 07-23-2010 07:47 PM

i wouldnt want that one back, glad youre ok.

DocBeech 07-23-2010 08:36 PM

how the hell did you do that lol. i drive the living crap out of my car on road coarses and cant seem to accomplish this. did she touch your car? whats more amazing is how it sat on the side. Glad to hear that your ok, but make sure you dont just take what they offer. You need at least enough money to cover closing costs, pay off the loan if you have one, and to replace the vehicle you had with one in just as good a condition and mileage. Im sorry to hear she got messed up but make sure you settle for nothing. Get what you deserve out of this.

04MT_JAC 07-23-2010 08:57 PM

It's was a median to my left the cops said when she hit my car and I tried to swerve the median is what keep rhe car on two wheels but once I cleared it the car went completely on its side and slid some more I am just in awe that I was sliding but no airbags deployed

I don't want the car back

b4yp 07-23-2010 09:32 PM

Yikes!! Good bit of bad luck there, but seriously glad that you are OK.

04MT_JAC 07-23-2010 09:49 PM

yeah i am glad i walked away
but it doesn't help looking at my signature and my laptop screen saver

laythor 07-23-2010 10:11 PM

make sure you're pushing for replacement cost, not just damage of value of your ruined car. Your insurance is only interested in not having to pay anything, hers will be interested in spending as little as possible.

You came into it with a perfectly fine rx8, you want to be out of it with another perfectly fine rx8... and no money out of your pocket to get there.

04MT_JAC 07-23-2010 10:49 PM

yeah thats the plan this is probably gonna be more painful than the accident itself lol

DocBeech 07-24-2010 02:45 AM

hey at least you have insurance to deal with. The drunk that totaled my 45,000 dollar mustang didn't. It's been three years and three won court cases later and I don't have a penny from him. I had a 18,000$ Shelby package put onto a 2004 Cobra when I bought it in 2006. I still havn't seen a dime from him. I'm glad to hear that you have options here and it's not a civil case for you.

Insurance should pay the retail value of the car - what a used car dealer would sell one for - plus sales tax. If her insurance company tries going on the cheap, your own may be more generous because they know they'll be getting the money back.

It's hard to imagine a car on its side not being totaled.
