I've been trying to figure it out since I first saw your posts, and I just can't come up with a good reason for why you bother posting. Thus far I've never seen you post something remotely useful or helpful. If you want to contribute to this thread thats fine, by all means... but going to every thread that catches your eye and talking about what you do not like is not a constructive contribution to the forum.

Uh. You fucked up... 232hp X 1.6 = 371.2hp to the flywheel. There you go.

His sole contribution has been pounding the variation between 232 x 1.6 vs 232 x 2.6 (100% + 160%)...

Generally I am a stickler for words and getting the right ones, but no need to be-labor a point so trivial. Mathematically challenged people probably shouldn't be doing their own tuning anyway

There is a difference between 'not helping much' and 'actively spreading discord'. Your fine

omg people this is 6th grade math...

INCREASING by 160% is 232 x 2.6 = 603. MULTIPLYING by 160 % is 232 x 1.6 =371.

INCREASING by 60% is 232 x 1.6 =371.

wow......

I must be higher than I thought

You did not even mention the loss in drivability, throttle response, and of course the unwanted extra stress on your motor, transmission, etc. Bottom line is simple: I don't trust adding FI to a car which was specifically designed as NA. The rx7 is turbo, the rx8 is not.

don't get me wrong, I LOVE turbo, but only in rare cases.

F40 anyone...?
Sounds like you need to go for a ride in a SC 8,,, has absolutely the same responce driveability and throttle responce of an NA Rene, just with oodles of power...
Edit- let me just say that an NA Rene may even have more of a "lag" feel with its power really coming strong from 6K up, as where I start making noticebly strong power around 3300-3500 rpm,,,

Offering what one does like or offering what one does not like are equally valuable and useful to others. If I make 200 negative posts, and 199 of them are useless, that means I still posted 1 thing negative that is actually useful, so in that respect my presence does have value. I am sorry if my negativity is bothersome, but that is simply the character I bring to the forums. It is up to the users to sift thru and use all the helpful posts from a vast array of differing opinions/thinking styles.

A little turbo lag is SLIGHTLY annoying but more than made up for by the gobs of torque at your disposal

By then my car will be an overall great performer,, in two weeks my BBK goes on, as well as my Bodykit and newly refinished Volks, as well as the secondary Rad setup that Moon and Cam developed on my undertray, which will be released to the public in a batch of 10 to gauge interest...

Keep in mind that there's a difference between turbo lag and boost threshold. If you're at 6,000 RPM's in a turbo RX8 and floor it, thats not lag. Nothing spools up instantly, not even a supercharger. Even a naturally aspirated car "lags". From the time you step onto the gas pedal, to where your throttle body opens, your intake becomes pressurized, etc. A properly sized turbo won't lag.

Here's a direct link to me downshifting (no throttle at all) then hitting the throttle. It looks like there's about 200-300 rpm before it gives me the max boost set by the boost controller.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUoA0RuD7Pk#t=1m20s

Keep in mind this was filmed before I had the boost controller settings setup really nicely, so if you watch the entire video, you'll see that I thought I could get max boost about 1,000 rpm earlier.

By the end of tweaking it, I could get 10-12 psi by ~2800 rpm. So if the WG door wasn't fully shut in the video, the 200-300 rpm time before max boost was reached could have been lower because a partially open WG allows air to bypass the turbo and increase spool time.

Either way, 300 rpm to hit 10 psi isn't a big deal. It's insignificant. You'll note boost was increasing during the 300 rpm, so it was already climbing and making more power than stock before that point.

If you come to a rotary meet in Orlando you'd think it was 2-1 in favor of superchargers

(And there was 1 more that was busy giving test rides that didn't make the picture)

Good god, y'all

Pettit's setup looks great, since it's so consistent.
