I still believe that a spark plug is a very simple part that hardly ever fails and folks throw them away when there is absolutely nothing wrong with them.
They don't fail, but over time they pick up deposits and the electrodes erode. They're a wear item.

BINGO! Dealer just replaced two of mine with 5300 miles on the odo. Unbelievable, but thank goodness it's still under warranty.

Damn! I just got a tune up from a local Mazda dealer for $250.
