For a sports car, the trunk space is fine. I guess people get used to having monster cars, but I'm glad that Mazda gave themselves a reasonable envelope for the car and stuck with it?

I'm lucky, our other car is a decent sized wagon, so that's what I take to The Home Depot anyways.

the nature of my job is travel and i was surprised on my first trip in the 8 that i was able to fit 2 medium sized suitcases and a laptop case (in the little recess at the bottom) with what looked like room to spare for one of those coatrack suitcases flayed out.

but better yet i was curious to see whether i could fit and whether the emergency interior trunk release was more thank just a joke and i fit rather comfortably closed trunk lid and all (btw im not small 6'1" 212)...and btw the interior trunk release works! so dont carry around any kidnappees in the trunk, they'll be able to escape hahaha.

but seriously the best thing imho about the trunk space and traveling in this car is just how comfortable it is on long trips, it carries enough for two people to go on a week long vacation and still carry the two people, which is perfect.

I did not buy the RX-8 for its trunk, so compared to other sports cars the trunk size is quite adequate.

The trunk holds luggage enough for a weekend, also holds two golf bags. It won't hold as much as a Lincoln Navigator, but praise God it is not a Lincoln Navigator.

Somewhat unrelated, but does anybody recommend a nice bike rack to go with the RX8? I like to take a MTB farther than the home state sometimes.

Of god yes it was important to me. I rejcted the 350 z abd S2k when they came out because of that. I remember going to the Nissna dealership. Drove the car then tried to get my clubs into the trunk- I succedded by taking my driver out of the bag and putting it on the passenger seat. I really wanted to get the 350, because I owned a 1971 240 z, but was totally pi**ed by the lack of room in the 350

Here is the RX-8's trunk. What do you dudes think, it could have been a little bit bigger. Let me know. I received your other inputs, this is my last post on this subject. Thank you for all of your inputs, this will be valuable information for the next RX-? . Thanks RXR8TED.

About three times as big as my MR2 was and just a bit smaller then my M3 (if you leave the spare tire out).

That's just for openers!

Wait til you get inside. You can get lost in theeeeeeerrrrrrrr (it goes way back, then opens into the back seat even). [people have crawled in there to see how far it goes back - really, just can't find the pics to prove it]

The trunk in the RX-8 appears to be about 4x larger than my mustang convertable's trunk.

I have no complaints other than the opening is sometimes too small for boxes.

yeah, the opening is unfortunate small.
E.g. if you buy a microwave, it will not fit through the opening unless you take it out of the box.

Dude - that was the first post in this thread! Care to at least post a link to some previous thread, so we know what you're talking about?

I'd really like a larger pass through, or a larger opening. The size is fine, but lots of stuff won't go past the opening.
