Tranny problems
ok, i've been having problems with my tranny, when i race, it wont go into second most of the time, and somethimes it wont go into third either,....i went to the drag stirp to check my time, but every singe time i mis shifted.(2nd gear). oh, and the revers grinds a little too....now when i put it in reverse, i have to hold it in reverse for it to work......im thinking it could be the clutch, but not sure.....anyone has any idea??? please help

Most everyone agrees that it shifts better with SYN, I feel its a cheap band-aid. Mazda put free synchros in mine but that was in 72', they were just getting started.

I had a new Stealth that would miss upshifts to second gear on occasion. Of course the dealer could never replicate the problem. Once I hit 30K miles, I changed the fluid to GL-5 and it was like having a new tranny. Later that car had synchro damage and the tranny shop put 10w-30 in it before doing repairs and it fixed that problem. Try changing the fluid first. The dealer can't help, they are only parts changers.
