Are you for real, or are the bots getting smarter? Scary.

A few more pics of the new R3 on a cloudy day.

I don't know how anyone can think it doesn't look great. '04-'08 are starting to look "funny" to me now . It's really subjective... and in no small part related to what you're used to seeing, I think. It still looks like an RX-8. The R3 is a blast to drive, and looks great IMHO. So glad I got it. Makes feel like I did when I first got the '04 GT... thrilled all over again every time I get to see it, get in it, and drive it!

The R3 price is something north of 31K. Traded in my '04, which was right at 5 years old with 56K miles. Got 10.7K for it. They took off a little because the '04 needed new rubber pretty quickly, and there were a few recent small hail dings. Got 4.9% financing.

I applaud you for at least attempting to properly break the engine in, even though some salesman probably beat on the car before you bought it. Hard break-ins generally do not work well on rotary engines, although for a piston engines they're fine and possibly better.

Remember that the apex seals are basically glued in there by somebody at the factory. they need time to build compression. Rebuilt engines with used housings need especially careful breakins.

What is the purpose of the two perforated "tabs" on the lip though? I saw them actually removed on one car, and that was pretty ugly.
if it is what I think it is there should be a socket in there for a "hook" to go into so he car can be tied down while in transport.

Then for starters, post it in the right forum. I'm going to helpfully move your post to the right place, and remove the links. Looks an awful lot like someone trying to spam links for SEO, to me.

Looks very clean. I actually LOVE the R3 Wheels.... So damn hot... The new RX8 looks a bit more "aggressive" overall than the previous generations.

I think some people just need more time to get used to it.

When the RX-8 first came out, I really didn't like it- being a former FB RX-7 owner, I felt that Mazda missed the mark with the 8. 4 years later, I was a convert, with all the zealousness that converts usually accrue.

Now, that said, there is something magical about the pure, initial form of any new car- the RX-7 is a perfect case in point. Don't get me wrong, FD's are fabulous sports cars, but they are a totally different animal than FB's. Regardless of where the tweaking eventually leads the 8, the original design will always have a soft spot in my heart. Give me some time to get used to the '09.

Although I have to say that the steering wheel looks like came out of a Mustang...

No salesman beat on this car. By sheer luck, I had taken off work on a Friday and for some reason decided to check the MazdaUSA site that day for R3s. To my amazement, MazdaUSA indicated the blue R3 was in stock at the dealer. Called the dealer immediately, but they said it wasn't in... still probably be another 30-45 days. They called me back Friday afternoon and said it had come in that very morning... the car rolled off the truck Friday morning and was put in the storage lot. I went to the storage lot Saturday morning with the salesman to check it out. It was sittin' way in the back of the lot, hidden among all the other cars. The plastic protectors were still on the rims. I turned the car on in the storage lot... had 5 miles on the odometer. They took it to the dealer Monday morning for prep. The dealer's a couple of miles from the storage lot. I picked it up Monday afternoon with 7 miles on the odometer. Couldn't have worked out better!

And speaking of miles on the odometer... got 500 now. Another 100 and I'll be lettin' her loose!!!

Oh... and about the steering wheel. I had the same reaction as most others here when I first saw it. I really liked the '04's more stubby fat look. But after driving the R3 for awhile now, I have to say the new steering wheel actually feels more natural gripping it by each side (at 9 and 3 oclock), I think due to it being more slender on the inside of the wheel than the old one. My hands seem to fit a little better at that position now. The outside wheel part still feels just as good and as fat as the old one.

Believe me... when you're driving it, the new steering wheel feels great!
