if you think following the required maintenance should be enough to drive the car on a track, you gotta be kidding me.

Manual saids 7500 per oil change, u're telling me thats enough for track event ?

There you go, you ALREADY KNEW that there is something wrong with the car *hint: overheating* and you choose to ignored it, continue your HPDE event, and you're blaming Mazda now ? good luck with ur warranty claim buddy

oh by the way, Mazda monitor this forum, just in case u dunno.
I agree, I track my car once a month. I change tranny every 15K, oil every 2.5K and flush fluid before and after every season. If you track the car you deffinitly need to do more maintenance.

Try do it in km.

I do it once a month too.

I change engine oil every 2 track days, no matter how many k I do in between. I do change when the oil temp reaches 125 degree C.

Gear oil I change every 2 track days, now I use Redline Lightweight shock proof I can take it out longer. Diff at least twice a year. A tracker in Japan uses Redline diff oil and still change in one every 2 months.

Tyre need to be rotate every track days, unless you want to toss the tyre afterwards.

Spark plug need to clean every season, so does air filter change. Brake pads every 5 track days with my project mu now. Machine rotor lightly every 2 pads. New rotor every 4 pads (at least my stock rotor lasts 4 pads and about 14 track days).

Lol, dealerships hate warranty work. Contrary to popular belief they don't make jack for warranty work. They make far better $$$ running diagnostics and charging for stuff rather than getting reimbursed by MNAO for example. That is why 99% of dealers will try to get it done out of warranty.

agreed.

Most dealership charges diagnostics fee like 100 bux an hour, sometimes it might be just gas cap (if you're out of warranty), hour labor + the overpriced gas cap = good money.

and some morons might go to the dealership cuz the engine oil light is on. another 100 bucks goes to dealership's pocket (plus oil)

Jason, it looks too late now but the better approach would have been to discuss your engine failure based on the engine recall and higher than normal replacements done to the installed "fleet". However, it looks like heat killed this engine from a water pump failure at the track. The only option now might be that the thermostat swap was not the proper fix, it only masked a bigger problem that surfaced at driving class.

Not trying to pass judgement, just giving you ideas.

I suppose that if you overcooked a corner and pranged the car against the Armco that you'd also want your insurance company to pay?

I'll guarantee you that if you file a small claims against mazda for the cost of your repairs, they will pay it and settle before it ever reaches court.

Thanks everybody for your help/ comments! At this point my attorney has advised me to stay off-line until this thing gets resolved. I will let you know how it ultimately turns out.
