Took first road trip to SC and back to DC. Then it happened

Ok good stuff first,

Took my Titanium out on its first road trip, from D.C. to Myrtle Beach SC and back...900 miles, got her up and running at speed, had three full tanks

278 miles on the first one
286 miles on the second
297 miles on the last one (that must have been running on fumes)

Loved it, OMG what a car to drive on a twisting highway and some back roads of SC. Soooo much fun, even in the rain, everyone passing by would glance at the car.

I drove back early to get to work for a meeting as I was pulling into a parking garage, the contractor truck in front of me back up all of a suddend and scratched my front bumper (less than I thought it would actually) and put the first gouge in my front end. The guys in the truck (it wasnt theres almost were laughing the Mother %&$R%ers. I got the liscence plate and info and was going to call the owner and they said here we will give you 100$ for the paint gouge, (big mistake).

I took it and as I was getting some other stuff and finding a parking spot on the busy street they took off. I guess they figured they paid for it, BS... they took the registration information and ripped it up, but i got the plate and the owners (their boss in NC) phone number (I checked it and its his phone).

Well after I parked I noticed the right side of the front fender is no longer flush with the right side body. Its off by about 4-6 mm. not overly noticeable but there none the less.

I am an idiot for not taking the information anyway and getting a cop to fill out a report.

If I have the front replaced how much do you think it will cost me?

If its just out of place and can be put back in place and the gouge repaired how much do you think?>

I should have called the cops the F***ers smelled like they had been smoking weed and were almost laughing at scratching a new car.

all the way to SC and back only to be hit by a NC truck in DC.

Always get their plate down and how does the driver "look like" whenever possible.

If they run away. Stay there and call a cop, file a report, call ur insurance company. Sue them, cuz most of the time commerical (I guess it is, since u said a truck) carries "BIG" Liabitiy coverage. so hehehe ....

I dont think they will laugh anymore when they see the letters starts coming in

Yes, you definetely should have called the cops. The damage will be much more than $100. But, that gas mileage is great! I got 15 mpg on my last tank. Only 208 or so miles. Absolutely dreadful.

Since you didn't get the drivers information you are probably screwed. Replacing the front bumper cover will be expensive. Repairing it maybe not so expensive, but it will be considerably more than $100. Good luck!

Check the for sale section. I believe I saw a Ti front bumper for sale. This is your cheapest route.

Problem is, by accepting the $100, thhey will try and argue in court that you took that in good faith as "full and final settlement". A lot of times the small print in class-action lawsuits etc. includes this phrase - i.e. its saying that you promise not to sue them again later. I'm no lawyer, but you accepting that Benjamin is going to hurt you later down the road.

OMG Guess what, I took it into Rosenthal and the body shop guy said it was just out of its clamps and fixed it for free.. (dont worry I tipped him). Its still scratched and I will have to use some touch up and fine grit sandpaper to fix that but no damage.

Phew...good thing I was in reverse and so when they backed into me I went with it and saved it from more damage.

Sooo happy now.

I hit a dog, and the body work to replair the scratches cost $400. (the damaged headlightlight was another $800).. So I would guess you're looking at $300 - $600 damage if they don't replace the bumper.

all in all, not a really bad scratch...I guess with a little dawn, a little primer, some touch up paint and some fine grit sandpaper I should be able to repair it to some degree.
