My stock Potenzas have about 13000 miles on them and they still measure between 5/16" and 7/16". They're actually wearing better than I thought they would. Have you been sliding around a lot?

Have you taken your 8 to the track? If so, thats definitely the reason for your tire wear issues. If not, you must be having some serious fun on the street! Do you have the Dunlop's or the Bridgestone's? The Bridgestone Potenza is the more superior tire IMO. They last a long time if you dont over-abuse them all the time. 6,000 miles is not that much, so the premature wear is probably not the tires fault.... . I just clocked 3,000 miles and the tires looked like they just rolled off the assembly line...i havn't taken mine to track days yet though....

ive got the Bridgestone's tires. and i have been on track but only on the UK prodrive day that come with the car. not alot of damage was done to the tires on that day. Umm i could be the way i drive it. ive done a burnout once but no harm done only went round once. i get around 200 miles out of a full tank so this maybe a problem to. man im just loving the car but didnt no how much damage i was giving to the tires. i guess i should slow it down a little. save same petrol and tires lol. A boy i cant wait to change tires (jk) gonna cast me a bomb lol

14K+ strong

I currently have 14K+ miles on my 8, more then 1/2 the thread is left! I get 250 miles per tank, average 18 miles/gallon. rev it up through the rpm range, redline, a/c on, windows down, etc.....

I am at 20,000 miles with the Bridgestones, and they are getting scary when it rains, as they hydroplane easily. They will be history soon...

I can get nearly 300 on a tank. Drive 98% on highway with cruise. M flash seems to help. But this is all old news.

Can't wait until the tread wear out. I want to upgrade really bad..... :p

If your only getting 200 miles to the tank you are enjoying that 8! Yes a few miles on the TRACK will take more than you think off and a burn-out or hard take offs!!! You had better get a harder rubber on your next set, maybe a 280 UTQG would help a little. The Potenzas are 140 UTQG and are not a bad tire except in the snow!

i also have about 6k miles and the rear tires have about half the tread left. i def don't abuse my 8 but i do drive it like it was meant to be driven. no burnouts or anything like that but i like to push the tires to their holding limit. the potenzas are ok but i much prefer the BFG G-Force KD.

6,000... now that is bad. I thought i was bad when i changed mine out at 12,000. That’s with me driving hard and doing the occasional doughnut to impress the girls.

ok fine, i did do some burnouts and hard launches but it shouldn't have worn down this much already. granted i do go through tires about once a year but the wear on these bridgestone's are a bit fast. i guess it's because of the treadwear being 140 i believe. but then again with that, isn't the rubber supposed to be softer and stickier? they grip nice but i've had better tires.

Keep an eye on the tire pressure every week. The low profile tires don't hold very much air compared to your typical touring tire on a sedan. It only takes a week or two to be down a pound. Hard cornering and low tire pressure will wear out the shoulders in no time.

Did anybody else run through the rear tires in 5k miles? We had the car delivered to NC from Texas (on a trailer) but the dealer did have to drive it to the shipping company. We are still trying to figure out how the hell the tires wore out that fast when we don't burn them out at all In case it was the Potenzas we bought some Michelin Pilot Sports for the rear and they have held up well for the next 4k miles, very little wear so far and our driving habits have not changed. Either screwed by the selling dealer or bad luck with the tires?

Easily done if you can force yourself to shift around 5k and below! I was able to do about 260 miles with this method (a few redlines but not much more than 10 times with that tank).

As for my tire wear I can't give a number but at around 13,000miles there appears to be plenty of tread left on them all the way around!
