I don't have a front plate on, but if I get pulled over I have the plate in the back of my car and several great stories. It worked on my Z28, it will probably work on my 8 also. Obviously the front plate looks lousy, but as someone above mentioned it also affects the air being pulled in, so I go plateless and 0 tickets so far. It just depends on where you are and how much of a dick or rookie the officer is.

I'm running in New Brunswick Canada, with no front plate. (Never a problem, knock on wood)

However, like blackenedwings... I've got mine in the trunk, with full intentions saying something like.. I just got a new grill installed, and I was planning on installing it over the weekend!

(The horrific front plate is NOT worth the small chance of a possibly fine IMO)

Wow, some places only charge a $40 fine for no front tags?! I got a ticket a couple of months ago for no front plate here in Ohio. It was a $120 fine. Needless to say I promptly put my plate back on. I even had it in the back seat and told the officer that it fell off, but he didn't buy it.

I've driven my 8 for months without a front plate, never got one from the dealership when I bought it and never had a problem. One day there was no parking and I parked on a different street, I woke up and found a ticket on my PARKED car for expired registration and no front plate totaling about $160. I didnt even realize that my tags were expired (found out they sent em to the wrong address) and I had been driving the car around like that for months and had even been pulled over with expired tags and never got anything for it. But I get both tickets while parked overnight

edit: I now run with the plate on the righthand side of the window, dont have the mounting brackets for the front.

True, its just another source of income for the state. IMO. Tinted windows law I can understand, but front plate? C'mon!

We don't have the law in FL... but in places like L.A. they have cruisers all set up with computers that automatically read plates as it drives, no input required from the officer, its actually really neat. A plate on both sides of the car might help cops find your stolen car faster. (or a car that was involved in some other crime)

Thats one reason, not one that applies to everyone, and I am glad that they don't do 2 plates here.

Although you're supposta, I'm five years this December without ever running a front plate in Massachusetts.

I've been stopped once, for speeding , but he never noticed the missing plate.

i live in houston and ive been pulled over once for no license in front, i told the cop that a truck with a hitch backed into me and it only damaged the plate ( which was true i showed him the crispy taco-looking plate) he just gave me a warning and told me to get it fixed.

I got one of these here in nyc.

What happened was since I bought my car out of state I had 1 temp plate for 30 days. i never got any **** for having only 1 temp plate on the back. So I finally got real plates when my temp expired. I only put the 1 on the back.. the VERY next morning I had a violation slapped on my windshield for no front plate... $75.

I did an e-hearing and the judge dismissed my ticket.. I used the excuse that since I had just gotten the car and I just got my permanent plates I did not have a front plate bracket. He bought it.

HAHA funny story about this very thing. I got pulled over a few days after I got rear ended in my 8, and so the back plate was a little mangled, and i took the front off. The cop pulled me over because he thought the car was stolen for some reason...
anyway he played it off saying that the front plate was missing and i needed to buy a new rear plate. screw that... the body shop rixer er good for me

I put a tint cover over mine and it is less noticeable and probably illegal but it still has one up front and looks better by blending in to the grill instead of bugs bunny teeth. Not a great angle picture but you get the point.

No front plates is the dumbest thing a cop could possibly pull you over for. Almost as bad as tinted windows, but if we didn't have tint laws, we'd have those gangbangers rolling around with double ply limo tint on their lowered trucks, doing drug deals and god knows what. The cops should use a bit of discretion, but that's just one of the reasons I have zero respect for any patrol officer. Before you say it, I'm nothing but respectful and compliant when I'm pulled over, but it never helps.

I got pulled over a few weeks ago because a cop saw me roll down my passenger window (which was tinted). He wrote me up for illegal tint, my sunband tint strip being too long (6 inches, limit is 4), and no front plate. I wanted to ******* stab him, holy ****.

Most cops don't care for front plates. They usually pull a car over if they think something is suspicious, if they can't find anything on you then they'll give you a ticket for something stupid like tint or plates. This is so they don't look like idiots for pulling you over without a reason.

You can tell them that the font plate bracket you had was stolen and that the plate bracket is on back order from Mazda in Japan because your car is JDM... So....yeah...they'll believe it...tell them your waiting on the dealer.

I have no front plate on my autobahn kit and if I get pulled over I will just say i bough it that way. Also when I had my motorcycle you would have to almost rest your cheek on my back tire in order to see my plate.
