Other 8 drivers give me the dirtiest looks. Probably because I'm honking and waving at them and mouthing "zoom-zoom". Oh well.

You may be a little paranoid, but most of the men of a "certain" age are into musclecars and the like. Not a big deal, you like your car and that's all that matter's. I think everyone that is into cars has a little "owner supremacy" thing going, nothing new, Ford vs. Chevy, domestic vs. rice etc. etc.

LOL for some reason we all think since we have an RX8 and we are on this site everyone who has an RX8 is also on this site and hyped up about this car as much as we are.

We should probably have some hand sign or something that signifies rx8club.

This is probably why I never ever have bothered to look at any driver next to me or driving by regardless of if it's the same car or not.

Only time I do this is when on a motorcycle giving a courtesy wave when seeing another biker going by.

I had "Zoom-Zoom" for a license plate at 1st (now hanging in the garage), but it really seemed to get people all excited.. ah.. a bit too much...esp. mega monster pickup-trucks drivers...who would dependably go flying past me left or right at any opportunity...twas a bit scary being down where I sitting in my RX-8. One year of that and a new plate totally changed everything! Weird.

After that it was kids and yound/old with bobble head stares and thumbs up yelling "Cool car!" Much better....

...don't feel too bad, at least you don't have to deal with the Kentucky mega monster pickup-truck drivin' army!

I've noticed that, too. I had a kid in the back of a minivan give me a fist pump, and another much younger (toddler) say to his mom, "Look, a wace car!" (race car), all excited as I drove by in a parking lot. I don't ever see hateful looks or rude gestures, though. Maybe I'm not paying attention. I get a LOT of favorable looks and compliments on my car, in particular regarding the matte gold wheels that match the Sparkling Black Mica paint so well. I also get lots of comments on the WANKEL license plate, mostly from people who have no idea what it means, and wonder if it's some rude word. I had an older guy on a Harley ask me if my car had a rotary engine after I wound it out leaving the previous traffic light, and then he said, "That's one hot little bomb" or something like that.

It is a fast *** car. Had the FWD production record on the Nurburgring for a while. That was the slower Supercharged version. Then Mazda took it with the MS6. Then, GM struck back again taking it with the turbo version of the Cobalt SS. Then Mazda took it again with a revised MS6. So, by all rights, it is a fast car. Not exactly something to get all excited about, but it is fast.

I thought the MS6 was AWD?

Agreed, though, the Cobalt SS was a pretty interesting car. Looked like a cheap-econobox, but didn't drive like one at all.

Maybe it was the MS3. I could be mistaken. I just know it was a battle between those two, GM and Mazda.

It's a cool little sleeper car I think. With nearly 300HP in the turbo, it's a pretty wild little ride. I've seen some dyno sheets from brand new ones putting 260-280 at the wheels. Think they are officially rated at 260bhp. I think GM should have spiced t up a tad more. Maybe did some thing like the dealer purchasable "extreme kit" for the last years of the cavalier.

Something like that on the Cobalt SS would at least make it look more aggressive and less cheap, if done well.

lol idk why but that cracked me up. i could envision that in my head right now haha.

i also agree with the kids know their stuff and the older folks let their ego get in the way. the other day i was at a red light behind one of those small school buses. one kid turned around and pointed and the next thing i know i saw a bunch of little kids staring at me give peace signs.

does it matter?

a Camry V6 has that kind of power.

and a Lotus "name here" don't have that kind of power, which one you think can go faster?

you can make any pos econ box go fast, that's what governement motors does all the time. Chrysler did and failed with their Neon. So you know what will happen to that pos Government Motors made garbage gonna end up at.

Mazdaspeed3 will eat that car alive. but hey, both are FAILED WHEEL DRIVE so who cares?

Stock for stock my old 08 MS3 and a turbo cobalt it was always a drivers race.

And they can thank SAAB for the power (same 2.0 in a 9-3 with a worked turbo)

Jealousy? Hate? Envy? Lmao. Maybe whoever is looking just likes the car? Ever Consider that? Jeeze, they just looked at your car. Hell, like I always say about my own cars, it's just a _________. Mazda in this case. Lol. They might've been looking to see what the price of gas is on the sign past you. Lol

Anyway, you young guys, like I said earlier. Try to appreciate what ever car has to offer if you're actually a car enthusiast. And if youre just a fanboy, bandwaggoner... That's ok too. But get over yourself. If I'm checking out your Rex on the street from my 600rwhp Shelby GT500 "rustang" it's because I like ALL sports cars. If I'm not allowed to admire from just a ford I'll go home and get my R3.

Remember, 9000 Rpm's are fun, but so is nearly 600lb/ft of torque. Enjoy every car for what it has to offer. There are a LOT of fun rides you'll miss out on if you don't.

Words of wisdom from,
The old guy
Amen. Just because it's your first car doesn't mean it's the best (or only) car on Earth. Jealousy? I enjoy my RX8, but lets be real here. This isn't Ferrarichat and we aren't discussing our shiny new 458 Italias. A nearly new RX8 is still under $20k, that's Hyundai turf yo!

Take a moment to enjoy CARS, because there's a lot of other good ones out there. And don't give other drivers the billy tough stink eye when you're sitting at stoplights, they'll probably stop giving you the finger.
