Thanks from a new Shinka owner

I did a lot of research over the last 3 weeks, and learned a lot about the RX8 on this Forum.
Thanks for all of the great posts.
Brought the new Shinka home last night!!
I got the side and rear, Aero flares and the front Aero dam. The spoiler gets put on next week.
I know one of the first questions will be in regards to $$$ I paid.

I was able to get them down to $31,800 (with the Aero add-ons).
I thought this was pretty good since the negotiations started with "This is a limited edition, so you will have to pay the sticker price."

I came close to getting the Red one, but the Shinka interior has a very classy look, and the parchment leather seats are very comfortable.

I have one major question:
How long does it take before you can walk away from it in the parking lot without looking back at least once!!!

I think I'm going to need one additional add-on..........
A good radar detector!!

Congrats on the Shinka - I really like those a lot more than I thought I would! Anyway, to answer your question, I really don't think you'll ever break yourself of that habit. I park mine far away from my apartment building to avoid the sprinklers and I look at it out my window at least twice a night. :o

Congratulations! I'm not sure when you stop looking back at your 8, I've had mine 6 months and still haven't kicked the habit.

Let me officially welcome you to the Shinka owner's club!! I think your doing pretty well, I wont even leave Shinka in a parking lot. Heck, it's my birthday and it's a sunny dry 35F and Shinka is home in the garage.

BTW, I get the spoiler next week as well, along with the exhaust finishers. I also have the aero kits and rotary accent. I think I'm most frustrated that it's too cold to wash and put a layer of wax on her.

Here's hopin' you didn't get the automatic....

I really didn't like the Shinka from the pictures but after seeing on at the dealer, I really like them.

I just walk backwards now when I leave my car so I don't have to take my eyes off her...

Congratulations on the Shinka, and welcome!

I, too, am a new Shinka owner, and I don't think I could ever tire of looking at her. The car is simply gorgeous from every single angle!

It's been 9 months and counting. I work from a home office, and always park my car in the garage overnight. But my house has a great view of my driveway, so I tend to park outside in good weather during the day just so I can peer out the window at it.

It's been 8 months for me. I park my car in a parallel parking spot that I can see out my office windows, 150 ft away. If someone gets too close I hit the lock on the remote twice and see them jump.

Nice to have another Shinka around

Welcome - hope you get many years of enjoyment from a beautiful car. The car has been a lot of fun and is very unique.

Any mods planned?

Welcome, Rick!

And as others have requested, we need pics. Need 'em badly, especially since Shinkas are relatively rare. I saw one in a parking lot the other night (not the dealers), and I loved it. The photos that are around on the 'net just don't do it justice. At all. It's so much better looking in the flesh, especially the exterior paint.

Best,
Bill

Thanks for all the replies.
I live in Palm Harbor Florida and the weather has been nasty the last 3 days.
Dark, gloomy, and rainy.
As soon as the sun reappears I'll get some pics posted.

I'm getting the windows tinted Friday. The factory tint is just too light.

When I was doing research on the car my son (16) started telling people I had "Shinka Fever".
I thought that once I got the car, the fever would subside........

My first tank of gas is almost gone. I'll be filling up when I leave work today.
I'll calculate the MPG and no matter what it is.........
I'll say "Thank you Shinka".
