Yesterday I did for the first time an oil change on a car. After my last oil change performed by the dealer (who repeatedly abused my car.. cut up the steering wheel, trashed 2 rims, dented a door, scratched another door, 4 tires inflated to 40+)... I decided to do it myself.

I was inspired by syntrix's post how to do an oil change, with pictures step by step. It was really that easy. I think I wouldn't even need to raise the car to get to the oil pan but interesting to take a look at everything.

Sure enough I had to find that the oil filter was so lose, I could take it off with 2 fingers. (syntrix wrote something about an oil cap wrench, that'll find use next time.) Not sure if that constitutes another flake by the dealer's mechanics.

Anyway, I wanted to point everyone to the Do-It-Yourself forum, somewhere there must be syntrix's oil change post (I cannot see it now). It has a lot more than oil change info to offer.

I suspect most people just look at the first 2 general forums; so these get not the attention they deserve.

Cheers and thanks again to this board,
