styrofoam spacers on air dam?

I noticed that my 6MT with the ground effects/air dam package has some styrofoam spacers between the bottom of the radiator and the part of the air dam that extends underneath the car. At first glance I thought it was road trash- it looked like a small piece of cheap packing styrofoam stuck in that space. As I prepared to pull it out I realized that there was a 2nd piece on the other side of the radiator wedged in the same way. Are they there to dampen vibration or something?

My 8 has 4000 mi on it and when I went out and looked there is some now dirty foam under the silver looking AC coil. The radiator is behind that coil. Hope this info helps.

The foam is just there to fill in the space between the real front bumper and bumper cover. Almost all cars have that.
