Well I haven't had anyone rev up next to me at a light.. I usually get the look when they look at the car. I do have idiots that intentionally slow down to keep pace with me so we can race from a roll. One idiot in a riced up RSX kept pace with me while I was doing 45 just minding my own buisness.. and the idiot started to honk his horn wanting us to gun it at the 3rd honk. So I looked at my wife and I said this idiot is going to get himself killed. So after the 3rd honk he guns it and my wife and I just laugh to ourselves.. and THEN, the same situation happened the same night with a S2000. Just a bunch of idiots out there.. and by the way, do you guys realize that we get tailed more often by SUV's? They tail me so close that I find myself driving really fast just to get out of there way.. its really annoying!

For some reason, the SUV phenomenon isn't uncommon. People have randomly mentioned it before. Not sure why that is; for me, oddly enough, it's been minivans lately.

Haven't gotten a lot of challenges on the streets in a while either, and I usually don't pay attention when it does happen at street lights, although, as much as I've held a disdain over the RX-8's lack of power, I'm comforted by the fact that I absolutely smoked a Corvette two nights ago on a very windy road--little did he know that's the 8's domain!

Had a similar occurance a few weeks ago while enjoying a cruise in the country. Some dim-bulb in a Chevy TrailBlazer SUV got on my tail. I was just cruising at the speed limit. He wouldn't pass and wouldn't back off. So, I just started holding my speed constant through some very tight turns. The knucklehead darned near lost it on the first tight turn, gathered himself up and was foolish enough to try it again on the next turn. He finally figured out that his SUV wasn't a sports car and backed off. I couldn't hold back the grin :D

I dunno, man. Hitting the brakes in mid turn is usually a good way to crash; better to let her power smoothly through it and understeer a little if the SUV was entering too hot, than to have her hit the brakes and break loose the back end by shifting the weight to the front of the vehicle.

Reminds me of high school, being a passenger in a friend's new (to him) 69 (?) Firebird, and as we went into a turn real hot the other passenger yelled out, causing the driver to hit the brakes in mid-turn: We slid right off the road and knocked over a street light. I think he would have made the turn if not for hitting the brakes.

Anyway, it all reminds me of entering a freeway on-ramp real fast in my 94 R package Miata. A pick-up had been on my butt and the last I saw of him was the side of his truck behind me, halfway up the ramp, as I heard a loud screech of his tires. Great fun.

I think I may have embellished upon my story a bit for effect

I don't think she slammed on the brakes, but just tapped them to slow down a bit...the white knuckled grabbing of the "oh ****" bar was 100% true though

Well, yeah, that's one of the reasons I bought this car: fun. Otherwise, I would've purchased a Kia next door.

As for people who tailgate? Who cares. I'm sure some of us here have tailgated as well. I'm one of them, especially when I'm pissed, or late for something. MOVE!
