Is April/2004 equal to 2005 Model?

Hello guys!

Thanks for help regarding price in another thread of mine. I picked up by RX-8 2 days ago! Wonderful machine, great deal (6sp, gray, GT, AP, $28000).

After driving for 2 days I can say the following. I going to drive again after dinner tonight, just cause I can't stop myself. Also, regarding power comments for newcomers, its plenty, its lots. Maybe its not as much as can be in a car, but it is plenty and very fun!

My question:

My car is a 2004 with fab date of 04/04. I suppose 05's were made in 06/04 or 07/04 or there about. Thus mine, production line-wise should be nearly up to '05 spec, revisions, etc.

In particular, would I have the M-flash (the latest, non-buggy version) of that flash? How can I check what flash I have?

Thanks!!

mine is a 2004 w/ the date of 04/04, too, but I dont think it is same as a 2005.

I guess mine has a M-flash. (but no sticker or something)

I just bought my 8 and the production date was 4/04. I"ll moniter my car and let you know if i run into problems. Anyone else has a production of 4/04? Maybe we could keep each other updated if we run into a car problem.

Yes, you have the M flash.

All cars built after mid-March (I don't recall the exact date, it's in the TSB) have the M flash spec ECU.

According to on dealer, '04s were still rolling off the line as late as August, almost at the same time as '05s. April would have been an '04.

I have a build date of 4/04 as well. From my own checking and from the word of the dealership (for what it's worth) all updates have been done to cars with this build date.
