Still having problems with 3rd gear. Help!
So evertime Im in 3rd gear and I shift to 4th at over 4500 rpm it makes this grinding noise that doesnt sound too good. I just changed the transmission fluid thinking it would make it better but it didnt really help. Could it be my tranny going bad??

Yes, it could be (likely) your tranny going bad. Sounds like a bent clutch fork not allowing the gears to positively connect.
It could also (unlikely) be your clutch not disengaging completely due to wear, or a broken clutch pedal bracket.
Year (in-service date) and mileage, please; as this would be covered under Powertrain Warranty.
If it is a clutch fork, they will try to give you a hard time about 'abuse'. Make sure that your car looks un-modified, and that you appear to be a responsible, mature owner. Appearances go a long way. (No burnouts / donuts in the dealership parking lot). LOL.
EDIT: I see you gave the year and mileage above; cool. Do you know when the car was first sold at retail? This would be the date the car's warranty clock started to tick... (You can find it out by calling your dealer, or the MNAO 800 number).

and i really dont know when the car was sold at retail. But either way it has no warrant because of the salvage title.

Ahhh.
In that case, look at Mazmart (a forum vendor) for a replacement unit;
or start a thread in the 'parts wanted' section.
I hate to tell you that these things usually get worse.
Good luck.
EDIT: It is really fairly easy to change a transmission yourself. Look at Rotary Resurrections DIY on changing clutch / tranny in 2.5 hourshttps://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/how-clutch-trans-job-under-2-5-hours-164502/

yikkes! doesn't sound good at all.
don't mean to thread jack, but i thought it was pointless to start a new thread, just looking for some quick guidance that is.
i too have problems with my 3rd gear. just that when my car is cold, it tends to make this loud *thump* when putting in gear. i dont think it grinds at all. just a loud thump. however, as soon as the car is warm, theres not a problem. is this anything to be alarmed about?
