Thumbs down Sound when clutch is pressed and....

Does anyone know why I get a tick sound when I press the clutch in. It happens about half way only when going down. It doesnt happen all the time, once in 3 times or so. It is very clear and there is no vibration that comes with the tick sound. Also the other day I was at a stop light and my tach went down to about 200 rpm, car coughed twice and then tach went up to 1.2k and settled back at 8500. Scared the heck out of me. Appreciate any info/advice.

the sputter sounds like one of two things:

1. possibly something was in the fuel (dirt or something); blocked up the throttle for a second, caused the sputter. happened to me once when i bought bad gas.

2. if it happens regularly, the timing might be off, maybe time for a tune-up (shouldn't happen until about maintenance time). that happened to my 626 before and started worrying me.

if it's rotary-specific, i'm clueless.
