i have experienced this too. i am 17 and i live in a small town and everyone knows everyone. so you kind of have to watch what you do, cause you never know who is watching. well, ya'll know how when kids just get there liscenses they think there hot stuff. anyways, there is this freshman that got one of those new maxima's for his first car. he has always been trying to race me(my first car was a '73 plymouth duster with a 360) so i'm guilty of this too. i have grown up though. well ends up he totalled it trying to race someone else. he was very lucky to walk away without a scratch.

Here's some pertinent information:

A stock V-10 500 HP Viper has a curb weight of about 3410 lbs. and will run the 1/4 mile in about 11.7 seconds. A 6.0L 325 HP turbo diesel Ford F250 has a curb weight of about 5490 lbs. Assuming the F250 retains its stock weight, it would require approximately 800 HP to hurl its 5490 lbs. of bulk down the 1/4 mile in 11.7 seconds. From what I've read, amateur propane mods boost the diesels HP between 4 and 10 percent while the professionally designed systems (usdieselparts.com) claim 50 to 80 HP increase. Even if you take the higher figure, even the most powerful of the turboed, big-bore diesel engines are going to fall far short of the required 800 HP needed to move the F250 as quickly as the Viper. And that's just to MATCH Viper. It would take considerably more power to beat it by a car length+ in only a city block.

Good job 1.3L, I was thinking the same thing. Lets not discredit Vipers, I've seen one on the track and they are fast.

I thought the story was BS too, but I just figured the Viper was cocky enough to not expect the output of the F250 and wasn't all-out racing. Not that it makes much difference, but the guy that owns the truck in the story is definitely a professional truck "modder" (he owns or manages a shop that installs BAD *** cattle guards, bed liner, AV systems, etc exclusively for trucks). My dad knows him better than I do, and I got the story from my dad.

On a side note, I sat in traffic yesterday next to a Viper . With a kid that looked 19 driving (who was wearing his hat backwards, blaring bass, and had his nose pierced.)

similar things usually happen with me. Since im young I find usually ADULT drivers in WS6's and Cameros revving at me and pulling stunts in heavy traffic. And you adults say young people are wreckless :p
