So my friends and i left the club we were at that night, and dropped the girls we came with at home. So after we drop the girls off, my three friends and i decide to go get some food. (My friend was in his car and i was in my rx8) Well my friend start following our other friend who is also driving. He manages to lose me down a side street but i still turn where he turns. When i make the turn, which is about 20 seconds later< my friend is in a fight with some random dude. My friend thats ridding with me jumps out of the car and i do the same. We manage to break them apart and apoligized to the other guy(our friend was really drunk,in fact we all were) Anyway we get the hell ouuta there cause we hear cop sirens, and we all meet at some park maybe six blocks away. When we got their my friend that got into a fight started yelling at my friend and me for not kicking the other guys ***. . I managed to break it up, and then my other friend and i left. I sped off, not knowing where to go and just full of adrenaline. I started to go up Tantalus, which is our local windy roads. So i take this really sharp turn going about sixty, and when i turned the wheel the car just goes straight. We hop the curb going about sixty, and just go straight. The airbags deploy and by the grace of God, my car didnt go over. We get out and the cars front two tires are hanging over a ledge. Cops show about five minutes later, and give me all the DUI field tests, because they knew i was drunk. So i get arrested and spent the night in jail, worst thing about it is im only 20. Ill be 21 in April. Well im pretty much in deep s**t right now. The lesson i have learned is one i will never forget. I stand to lose my lisense for a while, and i also killed my pride and joy. I later found out that both the front and rear axles snapped and the car of my dreams is totalled. I will never drink and drive again. Sorry for such a long post i just needed to vent....adrenaline+drinking+driving does not mix. Well i have definitley learned my lesson, and can only hope for this to be all okay.
Good.

I would like to say how I really feel, but i'm sure it would get me banned. I hope if you continue to drive drunk that you end up only killing yourself and not taking anyone else with me. You're scum.

That's about as nice as I can put it.

Scary stuff. I just don't understand why so many people, especially very young people, have to learn the hard way. Some of the posts I see on this board are unbelievable. It always blows my mind to see parents buying 16 year olds an rx8 for a birthday or some other reason. These aren't parents, they are idiots who don't know how to parent. I can't blame the kid for wanting one, I blame the parent for not being strong enough to say no and make it stick.

i just dont think it was necesary to say you wish he'd keep driving til he was dead.

i lost a friend in high school because of a drunk driver. i 100% agree with your anger at the stupidity of the action, but the statement was so harsh i'm pretty sure he won't hear the message.

Woooaaaah, now you're pissing me off. How dare you accuse my parents of not knowing how to parent just based off the fact that they bought me a nice car when I turned 16. That's upsurd. You don't know any of the kids and how they act and it's not your place to judge if they should get a nice car or not. That's my parent's money and my parent's decision, not stickman's. I think I have posted that post at least 50x on this website. There are also tons of teen drivers that have 8's. Get over it.

Dude, chill out. YOU were the one who posted about your "nice" friends' actions about getting into fights, underage drinking, and drinking then driving.

Face it, you really have no leg to stand on ...

Hmm, no, that SheDevil chick thought I was the one that started the thread. None of my friends drink, so I don't know what you're talking about. And, when it gets brought up all the time about teenage 8 drivers it gets old and frusterating and some of these people just can't get over it. When was the last time I got owned?

I didn't say i wanted him to die.

I said if he continues to drink and drive I hope when he dies he doesn't take anyone else with him, like a family on their way home.

Ask your parents if they regret buying you the rx8, if they say no, then i'm impressed, if they say yes, then it just goes to show you that your parents didn't know what they were doing and made a mistake.

Personally, it wouldn't have mattered what car you were in, your mistake was drinking and driving, you would have done it in any car. By the sounds of your posts, there is no possible way i could fathom a kid like you deserving such a nice car, but that's a different discussion all together.

It's not old.

Half the teenage owners end up crashing them. Everytime a "cool" parent puts their kid in a car that is way to much for them to handle, it puts my life in danger, it puts all the other drivers on the road in danger.

Sooner or later we'll have a tiered license system (I would hope) and have HP limits for new drivers.

Sorry kid, but I stand by what I said. Look at what you did. I'm glad you and everyone else came out of it uninjured but your behavior and that of your friends really says it all. Being a parent isn't about doing what feels good or is popular, its about making tough decisions and setting parameters. I realize that people of all ages do dumb things and we all make mistakes; its just that the frequency is higher among the very young and parents need to recognize that in their decision making about what is acceptable and appropriate. How would they have felt if you got killed or killed someone?

RX8 zoom zoom didn't start the thread and I note that he says he does not drink and drive which is good to hear. However, the message remains the same and it is not intended to belittle him or the one who did start the thread. It is a truth that hopefully will be understood in time. Too many die too young.
