lol, i am lazy with this car. i have had a TSi, WRX, & Yamaha R6 that i would change the oil on every 2k miles religiously with the best oil (royal purple) and always do it myself. Now i just dont care anymore, as long i get it changed every 3k with normal oil from someone else ( a dealer now ) & i am happy. I watched them change the oil at the quick change place too, i always stand in the bay.

 

I use Idemitsu motor oil and premix, and K&N oil filters.

Changing the oil yourself is worth the peace of mind alone, IMO. I only trust my car to one Mazda tech I know personally as a friend and a few people in my local Mazda owners club to be wrenched on, and that's it.


Plus, changing the oil with your car is "bonding time"

 

air filter = k&"m" in honor of that pwnage 350z
oil = royal pink (cus purple just doesn't cut it anymore)
or idemitsubishi (because its so JDM yo!)

what is a jagoff? Because the point of the story is they will probably not use the right weight and you have no recourse most times if something is wrong. I had no idea where the dealer was, it was in a town like 30 minutes away so i did not use it, but i know where it is now and i will not go anywhere else now. It is only 26 dollars which is only like 6 dollars more than the other place.

I don't care about $$ money for oil change. But I wouldn't trust anyone other than myself and close tech friends to do the job.

And as I said before, what better way to stay in touch with how your car is doing than to work on it yourself........when possible.

I mean, Xpress lube can forget to put the drain plug washer and you can get F'ed up really bad on the highway as all the new oil you just put in get drained drop by drop.

 

lol i did that when i wsa 16 and had my first car. I was afraid of over tightening it and it came off on the highway lol. It was a 93 240sx so it was nothing nice ...

 

When I went to the dealers this lady's Mazda3 had her transmission fluid drained instead of her oil...and who know where they put her oil...the dealers flushed everything out and fixed it for her...

I agree don't go to these kind of places...

 

I have the valve, but Im going to *remove* it @ next oil change, it valve itself has no problem, but its just too *slow* for my taste.

the valve is trustworthy.

replace them everytime, not like it cost a lot.

no quicklube for me. Quicklube = asking for a painful death.

 

Has anyone tried out a Mobil quick oil change place? I mean, those of you who will stoop to allowing someone else to change their oil out. j/k I'm a complete slacker when it comes to my car.

But my point is that I have always have really good experiences with the guys at Mobil. You pull up to their stations, you sit in your car and discuss options, and they even verify the new level of clean oil before you pay. Not to mention the courtesy checks on your lights, wipers, fluids, and even tire pressure. I stopped in once before taking a trip to TN and got all that stuff checked, and they never charge extra. Very reasonable pricing and very courteous mechanics.

If you can't do it yourself, I recommend your local Mobile quickstop.

 

By the way, is Mobil, not Mobile quickstop :P First you got it right, you fail at the end :P

My local Mobil suck ***, I dont even want to fuel my tank there. I always go to BP for fuel, which is just couple blocks down.

Nope I will NEVER let anybody to touch my car, except for warranty issues. and maybe someone I can trust (like CRH )

 

Okay I know it's been several days but I want to clarify something.

1. I did spell Mobil wrong the last time. oops

2. I'm not talking about the Mobil gas stations. I don't even know where there is one around here, but the one that used to be a few miles down the street was a dump.

Mobil has little oil change places, just a low building with an office and like three bays for changing oil. You're not even allowed to get out of the car. I can't remember what they're called, but they look like the Jiffy Lube places. And they have good prices and great service.

And I prefer BP, too, when it comes to gas.

Sorry to bring this thread back up, I just had to say. I know I'm not going to convince a bunch of very serious car people to let someone else perform such an important service, but that wasn't my intention.

 

Hell ... they didn't change his oil, but at least he got a new cheap oil filter.
