Smoke from under bonet

Smoke from under bonet

Hi im new to this forum but hope someone can help!!

I have a 2004 rx8 and have had a problem, i had a filter and oil change done and also had the plugs replaced at a local garage. after having this done i took the car to the town about 20 miles into the journey the car started to smoke from under the bonet and i got a realy hot smell. i stopped the car, The car started again no bother but i didnt want to drive it any further, since this happened i have not moved nor started the car. Please help

It sounds like some oil was spilled when it was being changed, and the oil started to burn off as the engine got hot. In which case, it's not a big deal. Was your temp gauge reading normal?

I would second that about the oil burning off...same thing just happened to me. I just got my 04 (new oil change at dealership where I got it), and I started smelling oil. When I was really revving the engine, I got a similar puff of smoke and the awful smell of burning oil.
Car still drove great, no elevation of temp, etc. The smell and smoke stopped after a minute or so and has not been seen since.
