Slippery clutch pedal

So, I don't know if this is my shoes, or the clutch pedal itself, but I've found the first really irritating thing about my 8. Whenever it rains and/or the bottom of my shoes get wet, the clutch gets VERY slippery, and I'm afraid my foot is going to slip entirely off the pedal leading to a Bad Thing(TM).

If I dry off the bottom of my shoes, then theres no problem, but even when slightly damp I feel like my foot is going to slip right off.

Has anyone else even had this issue? If you have, have you successfully resolved it by something other then rubbing their feet on the floor mats until dry or drying the bottom of their shoes with napkins?

I have noticed this also during my 105,000 miles of RX-8 driving. I deal with by just making sure to operate the pedal in a smooth manner when it rains or snows until my shoes are dry.

Yeah...Metal clutch pedals are slippery when wet.

I think I found my solution. 3M makes grip tape. You know, that stuff that they put on the decks of skateboards. I just bought a foot for a reasonably priced $1.50 at OSH.

I've stuck a single piece onto one of the rubber bits on the clutch pedal to see if it will stay stuck to it. If it does, then I'm going to go ahead and cut a bunch of circles out and stick them to all the rubber bits.

Pic's will come soon.

Discreetly cut and positioned (and in the right colour) I don't see why it won't work......
