Bummed out :(

Don't get me wrong, folx, I luv the car. But I'm getting bummed out, in the streets with traffic and cops, I rarely get to drive it the way it was meant... As soon as the car comes to life, you're above the speed limit and gotta chop it down. Except for a few nice passes, lane changes, accelerations from stops and turns, I end up driving it like a family car.

The car's amazing potential is so severely limited by the street and traffic conditions, that it hurts me more to see it go unfulfilled than enjoy its limited use. I wonder if many feel the same... Sorry if this has been talked about before, I just feel blue. I just feel that I'd be beter off commiting in a Civic

I just take that agression out in the mountains once a month. There's a group of us that get together for a drive in the San Bernardino area.
Find yourself a good mountain road or start spending some time at the track. All will be better again...

Speeding on Mountain roads is not advised.

Go take some HPDE classes or do the Auto X thing.

Think how I feel. I only take mine out on weekends, and garage it in the winter. I've got the shakes pretty much all week long. Don't even talk to me in Dec, Jan, Feb.

I was up in Pioneer CA at a doins, and mentioned the roads up there were awesome for driving fast in a nice car. A volunteer firefighter I was talking to said they usually end up hauling 10 to 15 dead bodies a year back up onto the road after the driver ran off the edge of the road with their car/bike.

The last one they had picked up was a biker. It was pure luck they found the body at the bottom of a hill.

I never said drive like a maniac on the mountain roads, just get out there and hit those turns a bit and you'll have a blast.

This was last weekend:

I have no problem. Just do daily rides to figure out where to ride. My work schedule is 2pm-2am on the days I work. When I get home at 2am I take a shower and go to bed. When that work day was my friday I get up around 7am the same day just to go driving and to feel the cool air with the windows down and the sunroof opened. I find it easier to open it up on back roads. The car responds better with the cool air and it is relaxing to get the car it's morning exercise.

Yes, you should really consider getting into autocross—sounds perfect for you! It's available all over the country, it's not at all expensive, and it's a lot of fun. Here's some info to get you started: http://www.scca.org/contentpage.aspx?content=55

I just go up north 10 or 20 miles of milwaukee, and find small towns with curvy roads and hills. Its fun as hell. And there is barely any cops!

Thanks, folks, the blues is pretty much gone. An early morning drive on a wooded road seems in order Seems that auto-x or some track time is a great prescription, too.

Thanks for cheering up a fellow RXer

A near by Sergeant got me @ 5:30 am the other morning going to work. It's like he was just waiting for me and he knew I had a detector 'cause he was so happy to nail me. I tried to explain that I was too old to be speeding but writing that ticket meant the world to him so there was no chance for me. Now I've been lookin' over my shoulder all the time and I barely get the engine over 6,000 rpm's.

There is still one place I can get it up to 9,000 each morning if the road looks quiet enough... Where has all the excitement gone???
