Shock Sensor Turned Off??

I've read the threads on the shock sensor and thanks to the information provided I was able to adjust the sensitivity. My question is.... I turned it all the way counter-clockwise so hopefully it wouldn't go off every time the neighborhood AH drives by, so far it is working .....

but now I'm wondering if I turned it all the way off, is that possible? or will it just take a jet airplane landing on top of the car to set it off now?

Thanks for any information you have!!!! :D

it is probably so "un-senstive" (can't be a word) that it might as well be off...

You should just give it a try - set the alarm then see if you can get it to go off by kicking the tires or knocking on the glass - or try swaying the car a bit. You should easily be able to determine at what threshold it's now set to.

If you want to test at home and are concerned about disturbing the neighbors, do as I did and pull the horn fuse (#23 in engine compartment fuse box) during testing. You still be able to tell from the flashing hazards when you've tripped the alarm. I had better luck and less hand pain tripping the alarm by hitting a tire compared to hitting glass.

There is a small, red LED on the sensor unit (there is on mine, anyway) that will illuminate when the unit senses a shock. When you turn the white dial, you can see how sensitive the setting is by tapping on the side of the unit. I have mine turned all the way down (i.e., the least sensitive setting) -- I can still make the red light go on, but I have to tap the unit pretty hard.

Note that the alarm itself will not go off when the door is open.

Hope this is helpful.

So what has to happen outside the car to trip the sensor? Land a 747 on top of it? :D
