Series II 100,000 mile club

MY RX8 WITH 100,000 miles

I have a 2007 RX8 with a 103.246 miles and it runs like a champ!

2009 gen II
124K miles now.
Changed the plugs, wires and coils at 122K.
Hard starts and rough at idle.
Now smooth as normal.
Oil change every 3k, tire rotation every 6k.
Original brake's at 40%.
Seat heater stopped working both sides recently.
Minus 8 degree's this morning, time to get it fixed.

You are correct about all the changes you listed. Plus we can also add all the changes to the driveline; tranny, gear ratio, diff, etc.

I suspect the reason why all these changes were never highlighted as important in automotive reviews and/or other literature is because they had nothing to do with an increase in hp and torque - which is the kind of stuff people get excited about.

For example, Nissan made a smart move with the 370z. As Nissan introduced the 370z there was an increase in hp and torque. So of course most auto journalists made a big deal about the changes between the 350z-370z

The one thing that Mazda FAILED at was not coming up with a more powerful engine for the Series II RX-8s. Even a slight increase in hp/torque, just a few horses, would have been a great marketing tool.
