You got more chance of getting a ZR-1 for that price than you do a GT-R.

There are a couple of ways to get it into the US, the best and easiest way to get one into the US is to find a private company who has done the US crash tests to import it for you (upwards of 25k to have it imported but you could drive it legally the second it hits US soil). And yes it really does cost like 25k to bring one here because I was seriously looking into it for a while and found a company that did all of the crash testing.
A second way is to become a registered importer, pretty much just prove that you have a large enough garage to house several vehicles,. This is a specific registration process though the government that I cannot remember as of right now how to go about doing it but it costs a few hundred dollars (whether you receive the license or not). What this does is allow you to bring the car over to the US and get a license for show or something like that but not to where you can drive it on the roads regularly.
(I'll use a GTR for this one) Another way to do is to have one shipped over here without registering it and to go to the junk yard and but a nissan 240 and switch out the VIN numbers between the two vehicles (this is NOT legal by any means) but it will allow you to register the vehicle as a highly modified 240 and let you drive it regularly on the roads.
That took way to long to type lol

the only "cheap" way I know of is to have a canadian buy the car ( you can import cars there after a certain age ) and then you can get it into the US easier. Still a major pain in the ***.

exactly the reason why skylines can be imported vs FDs
I believe the easiest way is through kaizo... though technically the car would be rebranded as a kaizo

I've seen plenty of Japanese FD's imported.

Servicemen returning to the US or a civilian fed employee coming off a 6 month TDY looks like they can get one in duty free if they can meet emmisions. But who's emmisions? If its local where you register all they check is the gas cap where I live, my old Talon loved that. I could get a 6month TDY to Japan but thats a serious inconvenience, Id really have to love that car.
MILITARY AND CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES of the U.S. government returning at the end of an assignment to extended duty outside the customs territory of the U.S. may include a conforming vehicle among their duty-free personal and household effects. The auto must have been purchased abroad and be in its owner's possession prior to departure. Generally, extended duty is 140 days or more. Navy personnel serving aboard a U.S. naval vessel or a supporting naval vessel from its departure from the U.S. to its return after an intended overseas deployment of 120 days or more are entitled to the extended duty exemption.

Who's to say you can't just ship it over via a private importer, buy a wrecked rx8 for cheap, and swap the vins? I mean other than the states that are highly regulated on vehicle inspections this should be pretty easily done.
