Question RX8 your daily driver?

Alright I know your out there, any road warriors like myself who drive there RX8 as a daily driver? If you do, your my hero I don't ever hear anyone say (unless I'm not searching enough on here) my 8 is my daily driver. We all know how much these 8's burn on gas in most cases what do you do to get a bit of better gas mileage. I get about 16-18 mpg driving in most cases 65mph but when traffic hits ouch. I've had my 8 for over a month now and love it more than my previous car (had for 4 years). Burns gas but heck what can I say, when you love your car, it doesn't really matter unless gas prices sky rocket lol.

Yup its my dd.

The fuel economy doesnt bother me. I bought a sports car i pay the price.

It's not the miles per gallon but the smiles per mile.
And i have alot of those

True, yeah I don't really care about the gas price just wondering if they where others out there who use there 8 as a daily communte and travel, I also know gas savers like walmart for example is another way to save a few dollars for premium. I've been lucky not to experience a speedbump yet but dang man I can only imagine it, I was considering getting coilovers for mine but just thinking about it, how do the springs feel as a daily driver? I agree with you fan23, how many miles do you travel per day? I get about 30 miles per day driving 40 minutes to work and back.

Yeap its my daily and I wouldn't have any other way, as matter of fact this car has ruined me for other cars I find myself having a hard time driving anything less than if the shifter isn't awesome, great handling, and all the other perks of the RX8 I don't even want to drive it.

My car is 2005 GT modded to the max pretty much. 90k+ miles and counting.

Mines my DD as well although my job is weird it's only 3 miles from my house and I only work 3 days a week most of the time lol So gas isn't a huge deal for me I guess. Luckily the wife pays for her own gas as well :-P

If you are getting 16-18mpg you are lucky my friend my 8 is a DD but I get around 4-8mpg I drive it like its meant to be driven I guess. If you are trying to save on gas then I would probably not have an 8 for a DD.

Daily Driver (and only car) with 120K miles. I've thought about selling it, trading it, swapping a piston motor in but I fell in love instead. Like comebackqid said, other cars are ruined for me.

17-20 mpg average with lots of revving and WOT. Still runs strong.

I guess I'll be the first one to change the flow of responses

My 8 is NOT my DD. I actually did not want it to be my DD when I bought it. I live relatively close to work, so DDing the 8 would be a waste of gas in my case.

MY DD is the total opposite of the car: older 4X4 truck, lift kit and mud tires, LOL. Ironically, my truck is bigger, heavier but it gives me better than MPG than the 8

Having the truck has been a life saver during heavy rain days and snow days. Where I live is all steep hills, so I DO NOT like driving the 8 when it rains or when it snows. So the 4X4 truck takes care of that. I know the 8 could handle bad weather, but I just don't like driving it unless the weather is nice outside.

The nice thing about not driving the 8 everyday is that when I get to drive it I'm almost desperate to drive it; so it's twice an amazing experience

I'm still DD'ing this car... project sped up way more than I intended. Looking for a dd now...

Fixed back seat, 6 point harness, cage, no a/c, no stereo, no interior like a baws.
It was cool for about a couple weeks lmao...

My 8 is my DD as well! Kind of sucks driving around a town I don't know (transferred colleges) in a lowered 8. I don't even pay attention to the gas mileage though. When I fill up I don't even look at the total, I just grab the receipt and check it later when I am looking through my account. I love this car regardless

I would never put cheap gas in my car, id rather use regular from a station like shell or bp before i put premium from walmart/delta in.

Im lowered excessively on sprint springs, the ride is great, probably because im on bilstein shocks. If i were to do it over again i would have bought coilovers and sold my oem bilsteins and done the install myself. Would have came out to the same amount of money.

Speedbumps are generally okay when i had my cat on, just a light scrape with just me in the car. With the RB midpipe i scrape it harder. I have to fabricate a skid plate before more damage is done.

I love my car.

Yep, i drive it everyday to work. I only drive this to work and hardly on my days off, because it uses a lot of gas. Anyway, we use the other car to go out.

The only reason it's not my DD it's because I live so close to where i work that I walk there most of the days (unless I have somewhere to go right after work), so any driving I do, I do mostly on weekends and nights out. If i drove daily, it would be my DD.

Ours is a daily driver for both wifey and I. We work different shifts. I get home with it at 5:30 am and she's out the door at 7am. Both of us have 35 mile round trips. This car has spoiled us so much that neither one of us wants to drive our other car that gets 32mpg (unless it's calling for thunderstorms or snow). But were both at the age that we have less than 20 good driving years left (reflexes), so why not enjoy it

my 8 is not my dd and gets stored for winter ~6 months a year. i bought it for a toy (bday present to myself. had it for almost 5yrs and its paid off for almost a year. lots of mods lots of money. i dont care about gas prices because my dd beater truck is worse than my 8.

because i dont dd when i do drive it i drive the **** out of it and get ~220mi per tank. i dont care how hard you drive your 8 (unless fi) you should be getting more than 4-8mpg. i think somethings wrong with your car
