hi guys, im new in this site and im interested in buing an RX8, but i want to get the type s model, here there are all sorts of import models and i cant distinguish between the type s and other models, is there a chassis code or engine code that i should look for to be sure that im looking at the type s model?

the easiest way to tell is 6 speed and the 18" rims. Another thing i would check for is the dsc (dynamic stability control) button which is fancy driver aids not just traction control. This is located to the right of the ignition switch.

Type S also will have the HID headlights. the way to tell this is turn the lights on and it should be like a camera flash at first. If its got these things its a JDM type S

the GT package on the automatics come with 18" rims too. So you can't tell with that.

g'day! I'm in Japan ri9ght now and they have 3 different grades here.
Type S is the 6spd manual, 18"rims, 250ps engine, better brakes, suspension than the BASE grade which has a 210ps engine, 5spd or auto, poxy 16" rims, and probably other below type S grade parts. then theres the
Type E which is sort of an in between version of the 2. you can get the 18" wheels, the interior is more luxurious, leather etc... cruise control, but not the 250ps engine Ive really only looked into the type S coz I want the sporty pack! hope this was some help to you.

Type S is always 6-speed, I know I have one! Plus I think it the only one that redline starts at 8500 revs (correct me if im wrong)

Redline for all 6 MT is 9000rpm (not just for type S). The 8500 rpm to 9000 rpm range is when the warning buzzer sounds.
