RX8 tire price

Hey Guys -

Long time since I've posted but was hoping someone could tell me what they paid per tire when they replaced their RX tired. I had mine slashed and insurance says the list price is $600 each, but they can get them to me for $400. With my deductible it will cost me about $300 per tire. Anyone know a better deal? I'm in Canada but would gladly ship them if cheaper.

D

Well, let's start with is that canadian $? $600 per tire sounds about 2.503 times the reasonable rate for tires... When you can get a lot better ones for 200-250 USD. imo

I've actually rounded the prices to USD (The exchange rate is about 17% right now, or about .85 us for 1 CDN $).

I only have two tires which will need replacement and would prefer that they're all matching!!

What would you suggest. Change all 4?

Well my car came with the Bridgestones, but I'll buy a new brand. I just want the best value for my dollar. Not to pay some mechanic a fortune for nothing.

for $160X4 = 640 US you can buy better tires from Discount Tire direct.....ship to Bellingham and get installed for 40.......so about 800 CDN.....and a couple of hours of your time...

talk to the people at tire rack (http://www.tirerack.com)....one of their reps is a member on this board (cant recall his name...craig maybe? look around you'll find his contact info) and is great at making sure the tires you want are gonna fit the 8.

plus they are reasonably priced and will deliver to most any shop in your area.

600 is rediculous for a tire BTW....tell your insurance company to get a clue...for this car (stock size) you're prob gonna be in the 150-250 range per tire.

I've heard good things about Kumho's. The Price performance value is really good from what I hear, and I know a couple of people that run them (not on the RX8 though), and have been very happy with them.

And you really can't beat $98/each. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0

TireRack rocks - they can help you.

My replacement rubber (Pirelli PZeroNero M+S) was $150 per tire plus shipping and mount & bal. About $720 for all four down the road.

yea, 600 per tire seems extraordinarily expensive, even if you get top of the line stuff, its no where near 600 each

I'm confused. Don't you want the insurance company to give you more, rather than less money

Kumho & Pirelli

Glad to check the forum and realize the two tires which I decided on are the two recommended.

The aforementioned Pirelli's and Kumho's are what I think I'm going to choose from.

The Pirelli is $240 CDN ea mounted
The Kumho is $160 CDN ea mounted

They're in stock too, a little more expensive than tirerack. But being in stock means I can give back this loaner Minivan the bodywork shop gave me and get my 8 back on the road on Monday.

Thanks for all your help!

The Insurance company will only cover 20 % of the cost of one new tire (because only one is damaged, the others are just at 20 % wear so I figure I may aswell replace them all)

How do you like those Stew? I was contemplating replacing the stock Potenza's with the Pirelli's.
