RX8 R3 Horrible Base?
IMHO - Bose product is - at best - marginal. The system in the 8 is just good. Not great. Not outstanding. Ive heard / had Bose in other cars - same thing, just okay. Their home audio - just okay. Same thing - marketing overhype.
One exception - ever heard the Bose system that came stock in Third Gen RX-7 ?

Simply adding a subwoofer helps a lot. It can be done fairly cheaply if you are willing to do the install yourself. It is easy and took me about 3 hours total. I used the following equipment:
Rockford Fosgate Prime 250-1 amp $150.00
Rockford Fosgate Punch P2D410 subwoofer $96.99
Prefab custom subwoofer box $75.00
Throw in a high level -> RCA converter and an amp wiring kit and you are good to go. Tap in with the converter to the speakers in the back for signal, run the power under the trim on either side and ground it near the amp. Adds a nice thump without destroying the sound.
