Forget what everyone in here says . . Just go get one. The "dealer"ship letting you drive one is like a crack dealer giving you the first 'hit' for free. It will get you addicted!!!!
Mine is my daily driver. I work close to home, so milage is not a worry.(ave.19mpg) I absolutely LOVE this car. Nothing else out there feels the same. If you are a TRUE car enthusiast, get one.
BUT . . . . . .
If you are a teenager(I know, we do have a couple mature teenagers amongst our ranks), a ricer, an idiot, a 'my car is faster than yours' guy, a fool, neglectful, forgetful, foolish, or just plain ignorant . . . . stay away from this car. It is not a purchase, it is a relationship
And if you do not have thick skin . . . NEVER start a new thread here. I had to learn the hard way too.

Thanks guys. Dont worry I am not a teenager looking to go out and race someone everyday. I am way past that. I have had camaros and firebirds my whole and dont get me wrong they are great cars and fun to drive but I am just looking for something different, and enjoyable and from all my research in the bang for the buck category this car seems to be the best one. Thanks for your help guys.

If you get the car, be prepared to be asked to race every day. Especially by trucks... not sure why but trucks want to race me more than coupes...

I have had camaros and firebirds my whole
The speed might disapoint you, then. I've raced both for kicks on the highway, and both cameros (Z28s) & the firebird pulled on me from the 60mph roll.

I am just looking for something different, and enjoyable
lol FE's do not disapoint in this category

and from all my research in the bang for the buck category this car seems to be the best one. Thanks for your help guys.
You sound sold aleady - you mentioned having done research in your first post, you seem to know a handful of the rotary's special needs, and you talk as if you've driven (or at least ridden) in one...
...so what are you waiting for?
Saving up? Still trying to sell a car? Waiting for a used one to show up?

Where are you in the purchasing process right now?

Saving up right now, still not sure a hundred percent. Seems like every time I start saving my damn car breaks and knocks my savings down another 500 bucks. I might keep my car and use if for a weekend racer because I'm not gonna lie I will miss the torque but for better reliability I think I will take it. Racing is not that big of a deal cause I found out when you get older and have to pay your own tickets and insurance that really changes. Speed isnt that big of a deal I like having cars that are different as ironic as that sounds coming from a guy who drives a firebird, and besides a 14sec quarter mile is not bad it gives you plenty of speed to merge with and still have some fun. I just like the functionality of the car, decent speed excellent handling, great brakes, comfortable and all around dialy driver.

If gas mileage is important to you. Look elsewhere. My 8 gets about 13 MPG. I couldn't care less. I still want to get out there and drive it like I stole it. I am sitting here right now typing this and she is calling me to come climb in and go for another ride. I am addicted. I will pay 5 bucks a gallon to keep this high.

What kinda racing if you dont mind me asking? Right now there are plenty of Rx8's doing autocross racing and owning. This car is not a strait line performer but it will humiliate other cars in the twisties! Brakes in stock form are great on road courses and do not fade for the most part if ever.

Also, if you have the dough they have turbo setups that will give you 350 wHP. I believe there are people running those numbers for 30 k miles now but I do not know that for sure you will have to search to confirm. Edit: Many of the reliability issues with modding were addressed by upgrading the fuel and ignition systems.

I believe the Rx8 has the soul of a true race car but is missing power to back it up. Thankfully there have been manny advances in this area including turbos, superchargers, and NA tuning.

Not trying to sale you anything I just genuinely believe in this car. Most cars are about brute force but this is the first car (other than the 2005 and 2006) ZO6 vettes that (I've driven/raced) handle just so amazingly/neutral.

I have mostly done Drag racing, I have a LT1 firebird formula currently with longtubes computer tune, intake, drag radials. Its fun with lots of torque handling is moderate at best. I'm just sick of every time I go to the shop its 500 bucks or more to fix small problems. I know the 8 handles great and thats why I'm looking besides 14sec for a car that only puts down around 180-190 at the wheels is pretty impressive if you think about it. Like I said I'm not really looking for a drag racer cause honestly this would not be the car for it, Just want something I can take up to mountains and have fun with I'll keep my other car for the strip.

This article in Rotary news is what really bothers me and why I asked you guys all of these dumb and repetitive ques you have heard all the time. I really helps to talk to people instead of just reading it on the internet you know. I appreciate the help and enthusiasm from each of you. http://rotarynews.com/node/view/826

Don't let the recalls scare you. Every car has them. If you think about how long it's been since ANY company has put a rotary in a car, the fact that 90% of the recalls/SBs are for rattles, squeaks, or quick-fixes done to the computer systems really goes to show that Mazda tested the Renisis quite thoroughly.

Owning an RX-8 is like dating a smoking-hot superstar. Your a moron if you don't ride her hard every time you're in her, but you're going to lose her real fast if you don't pamper her in between runs. It's well worth the extra effort

B - OMG NEWB WATCH THIS FLASH
C - USe Da SeaRCh~!!!! lololol
D - ZoMG buy a civic you ricer! They're reliable!
E - repost x1098327498715. I hate Newbs

Reading 3 or 4 threads of nothing but flames doesn't get you any closer to the answer you were looking for.
Best post of the year, thank you. Unless you have something very specific to search for, searching is an utter waste of time. Reposts of the same-old-questions are never going to go away, and people need to get over it.

No, I'm not saying that at all. The faqs and stickys don't require searching, they are prominently out front for a newbie to find easily. The faqs and stickies aren't the same as trying to use the search function on a preposterously large database of posts where you are guaranteed to get 8 billion hits, unless, as I said, you have something very specific to search for.

What we really need-- and I've said it a billion times-- is more complete and more prominent FAQs.
