Hi,

I'm considering buying an RX-8 in December. Do you find the car is a cop magnet? I used to have an Eclipse and that was the case. I was younger with the Eclipse, I'm 27 now. But even when I was driving normally, the Eclipse got plenty of unwanted attention.

 

If you don't want attention do not get an 8. But as far as a cop magnet, nah

 

Well I want attention hehe, just not cops hassling me excessively.

If you're speeding and/or breaking the law, then yes, it's a cop magnet. If you respect the speed limit and drive correctly, then no, you won't ever get troubled.

 

+1 i have the hks hi power and drive a VR people are always asking if i have tickets...its easy. just don't speed.

 

if in the middle of a pack speeding you will be pinpointed...ask me how I know...other than that it's not bad....def alot of attention but i've never had any trouble other then that once...

 

in miami i got pull over 2 times in a month no tickets in virginia 1 time no tickets
they only say to me nice car and bla bla bla
bud i just got a ticket in the mail from washington dc for speeding.. damm camaras 100 dollars

 

^ Agree about the attention, but cop magnet... IMO its really the color you choose too because certain color makes this car stands out even more to their eyes.

 

Does not seem to be that way over here in NZ .
I get more tickets in our clapped out 1993 bmw 3 series and i don't even drive that very fast

 

I have a black 8 and have only been pulled over twice for stupid reasons; zero tickets. Red 8's get all the **** lol

 

I never had a problem with cops, and I mostly drove the 8 at wee hours of night, when it's much easier for cops to single you out. I had one follow me around one time when I was bored and just out driving for the sake of driving, but he didn't pull me over.

To a point, it really doesn't matter what you drive, it matters more how you drive it.

 

I've never had a single problem with my 8 and cops. My old mustang on the other hand is a different story.

Well I'm gonna agree with the fellas on this one the cops don't really seem to be a problem, the ladies on the other hand, man keep a broom stick in the ride cuz u gonna need something to beat em of with!!

 

At school it isn't but when I'm home in Jersey the cops always think I'm some drunk highschool kid driving their parent's car. Either way I don't get tickets so it's whatever.

If you'll drive right, you shouldn't have any problems.

 

I have a yellow and have been pulled over once since 2/2004 for a busted rear license plate light.

 

Not that I find. I think other cars are bigger magnets than 8s. Also depends on the color I suppose.

 

had the car for a little under a year. only been pulled over once and it was my fault (~82 in a 55)

Wait! What is this camera stuff? lol I've lived in San Antonio for 8.5 years, and I'm moving out there. I speed quite a bit here, and I'm ok, but I'd like my no speeding ticket record to remain in tact. Hrrm. No bueno.

well the ticket was for speeding in 40 zone i was going 58 bud if don't remember the sign was 55
well is big B.S. bud i'm not going to fight this is only 100 bucks and i don't thing i get any point on this
