can the 8 even be stolen that way? or even remotely that way? i imagine they would need to do some serious hax0ring to overcome the immobilizer? or completely replace your ECU?

Not the way those crooks did to the OP's 8.

They have couple of options to take OP's car away, the fastest and easiest way also the most noticeable way would be towing the car away.

Probably tried to siphon the gas too. It happens a lot lately.

If they joy ride your car, its going to cause you a lot of commotions

Good luck

People are pure haters and are jealous. I had this *** jack in the middle lane, in a beat up work van, as I approach coming up to him on the right, the passenger *** jack hocks a luggie out, i hit the brakes so his vile spit wouldn't hit my car. I sped up and looked at the passenger with a look of death and he gave me the stink eye back.

At the next intersection i had to get some gas, so i pull up to the pumps and the two *** jacks pull up to the store , both of them get out, I get out too, but they suddenly stop in there tracks like they seen a ghost. Threaten by my size (I weight lift) , they might have been intimadated by me, and realize they didn't want to tangle with me , since I would break there F-in jaw if they approached me. I had to go inside and get some water , so as i started approaching the store, they jumped in there van and hauled *** with the quickness! Chumps!

3000k bucks give or take. To rewire all that stuff up correctly is labor intensive. If I were you , let a reputable dealership do it or else you will have future problems with your car electrically.

this post definitely started out just being about theft but clearly grew into theft/haters; really anything about how people are a bunch of ********. if they would put as much energy into workin to get one as they do hatein on those that have, this group would be twice as big =/

i spoke to the dealership they said i am going to need an immobalizer Coil, Ignition Lock Cylinder, upper and lower steering cover, ignition coded to the keys as well as keys coded to the car......the dealership contracts out the ignition to be coded to the car (i thought this was odd) but for all of this $685 minus quote from guy that codes the ignition...this was before i told them about the whole above the lock to the door (hahahah) i still thought it was pretty cheap but they are going to get back to me about the door...(HOW THE F# DID THE TECH MISS THE HOLE IN THE DOOR........WHAT A MORON, DID HE ACTUALLY THINK THE THIEF GOT IN THEIR BECAUSE THE CAR WAS UNLOCKED????)

I know its not something i can do myself and i know insurance is paying so ring it up but the truth is, insurance gives me an estimate and then subtracts $300....so if i can buy the parts used and do the job myself y not?

Are you an expert in the ignition wiring and electrical processes for the car? Remember, the visible problems may not be all that is there. Allow the pro's to do all the work. It's why you pay insurance premiums. $300.00 I am assuming is your deductible? It's a very small price to pay for the peace of mind that once you get her back she'll be right again.

You wouldnt attempt to do brain surgery if you were not a brain surgeon..same principle. Good Luck, and keep us posted on the progress. Sorry to hear this has happened to you. I have gotten into a habit of even removing the ignition switch if I have to park in a questionable area...I've had a few people comment about this feature and question me about it, so I don't take any chances. Kids and sportscars and joyrides....not in my baby!
