i just checked with my dealer. he says he hasn't received any word on how many hes getting but he thinks it will be very limited. wouldn't say any number. i'm still only the second person to put a deposit down. totally refundable of course.

First Model Year

The only reason I'm taking a chance on a first model year car is because I got one once before from Mazda and it was a wonderful car. I got a first model year Ford Probe (really a Mazda MX-6). It was a perfect car, no defects, never gave me any trouble at all. So, I'm hoping the RX-8 will be the same way. Who knows though.. It's pure chance.

Set to go on sale early next year, the innovative rotary-engined RX-8 supercoupé is expected to cost only £25,995 – and offer an astonishing 250bhp. We got to grips with the BMW 3-Series Coupé and Audi TT rival in the first test of an early prototype. Despite our car's rough-and-ready appearance, there's no doubt that the rear-wheel-drive RX-8 is one of the finest-looking Japanese machines ever.

I put down my deposit ($500.00 fully refundable) on April 8th and it was at that time my dealership already knew how many RX-8’s they were getting next year. It appears that Mazda Canada is keeping their dealers a little more in the loop as to what they can expect.

My dealer claims they are being allocated three RX-8’s for the entire year (some of the small dealerships will not receive any), he also mentioned that they typically end up receiving twice the number of vehicles that they were originally allocated on low production cars. Even if they do receive six cars next year I imagine that it will not be difficult for them to sell.

It sounds like Mazda Canada and Mazda USA are not on the same page with respect to keeping their dealer channels informed.
