RX-8 practicality, how much junk have you stuffed into your car

I love how practical the 8 is, I recently bought tires and the idiots at the store shipped them to my house instead of the tire store. If I owned an S2000 or a 350Z or pretty much any other high performance car I would have been screwed and would have had to make multiple trips...

But! I just opened my suicide doors, stuck one in each back seat, one in the front seat and one in the trunk and made a single trip, and after all that was in there I could have fit a LOT more in there still.

I put a sheet over my bike frame and it fit well in the back seat and then I got the wheels in the trunk. I felt pretty cool having my road bike and sports car together

I agree. One thing I made sure about the 8 was that it had enough storage space. I am an in-home computer technician. I often throw a desktop pc, monitor and printer (all in boxes) in the backseat. I then put a tub full of computer upgrades in the front seat in case the customer wants to upgrade. I don't have a lot of room in the trunk because I have the optional spare tire, 2 sets of ice skates, and 2 pool sticks back there, as well as my extra oil and car cleaning products.

Nope, the spare tire is in its holder, the ice skates are in backpacks, and the pool sticks are in leather cases. The other stuff is just wedged in a corner... I haven't heard anything bouncing around yet. Of course, with the windows down, sunroof open, radio blaring, and engine screaming, I probably wouldn't hear it anyway. :P

That's no big deal. I've fit 4 wheels and 4 tires in my Miata before. Of course it helps that it only has 14" wheels! LOL.

Here we go. 4 tires in the back seats. A portable massage table in the passenger seat, 2 sets of jack stands in the box. A 3 1/2 ton jack, still in the box and a tool kit all in the trunk. Me, a 2L Coke, a couple chocolate bars, and my ego...very cramped but still not as bad as it could have been.

on another note, sex in the back seat is possible
3somes and 4somes are best left for opening both doors and incorporating one on the roof

I run a video production company - you wouldn't believe how much stuff I've crammed in my 8 when I didn't have my SUV to drive: Large broadcast camera case in back seat (one side) large pelican style flight case with HD camera on other side, 6 ft long portable jib (crane) arm in front seat (reclined a bit) - trunk - 9" TV monitor, 2 medium sized lighting cases, audio case, tripod case, gear bag, charger, and a few other things.

I used to tote all my equipment around for home security installations, which was:
2 drills in cases, 1 tool box, 1 journeymans bag, 3-5 boxes of wire, and 2 rubbermaid containers full of all the panels, sensors and ADT propogando, + 6 ft drill bits, etc etc
Im sure there was more but its been a while....

I somehow think that's just impossible, unless the door is open and she's laying over the front seat... oh hell I'll just have to try it

Oh, it is also possible to fit a 32" wide screen tube tv in the car.... you just have to move the front seat all the way forward, and put it in the back seat sideways. It was a tight fit, but it DID fit, and without scratching anything.

On one of my many treks from Columbus, Oh to Charlotte, NC, I loaded my RX-8 down with:

1 - 14 year old Male High School Student
1 - 22 year old Female College Student
1 - 37 year old Male RX-8 Owner
8 - 11"x11"x8" US Post Office Express Mail boxes full of the 14 y.o.'s junk
2 - Uhaul boxes
2 - Large duffel bags filled with the "kids" clothes from the weekend.
1 - cooler with Mountain Dew, Coke, Gatorade, and Snickers (we didn't need to stop for food - just gas)
1 - 22" tube television
1 - sleeping bag
1 - small bean bag chair

Loaded with all this crap and 3 people I was able to average 20 mpg cruising through the West Virginia mountains.

I wish I had the pictures still but I lost the razor I took the pictures with.

Don't forget the assorted personal electronics - iPods, cell phones, and 2 laptops.

Maybe Mazda should market the car as a Sports Coupe Utility. Since everyone is creating these silly and crazy categories and names.

I once had 15 20lbs bags of ice in the trunk. Also have made a trip to Sams club to get stuff for the restraunt and everything was packed. Trunk and rear seats. I was amazed that it all fit. Usually take the town car or the lexus for that kinda job.
