No sides being taken in this comment, but everyone needs to be more tolerant of other peoples' opinions, needs, and wants here. People's needs change and that is fine. I just wish everyone would stop being one particular manufacturer's or car's fan boy and appreciate ALL cars for what they are.
Dean, I want to thank you for your honest opinions of the 8; they are much appreciated. Staying with one for 4 years is more than most of the current members here have done, so that gives you a unique perspective. I wish you luck with your Infiniti. They are incredible cars and the VQ engine is hard to beat. It seems to be the perfect car for you at this stage in your life.

Thanks for the "PM" message trying to get me not to buy a RX8.
ANYWAY...The G37 isnt a good buy right now. Its got some problems. I drove one two weeks ago. It fails in comparison to the G35...unless your talking "creature comforts" The G37 has some cool things in it, and is a very comfortable car!! BUT, I dont think it drove as nice as the G35. Not to mention infinity got rid of the sexy exhaust systems, wich are heard on G35s. The 37 is a good car, but for the money... you can do better. Good luck, infinities are a great car. Now you can be like everybody els eon the road...thats fun

Enjoy your G37! I test drove a couple of G35 coupes and my FIL has one. Everyone likes low end torque, can't argue about that, but I chose a used 8 because it handled better, was more practical for my 2 kids in the back seat, not to mention that the used low mileage 8 was basically half the price of a new G35 at the time.
I'm curious about the problems with the G37? Haven't driven one yet. The G35 had nicer leather than the 8, but the rest of the interior seemed pretty cheap. Sounds like they've addressed this.
Oh BTW, I don't think the turbo was really an option for this guy anyway 'cause he leases his cars.

You haven't even been on your honeymoon with the G37 yet! How about letting us know how you like the G37 after 4 years?

Hi All,
I did a 4 year lease on an RX-8 which I bought full equipped in 2004. I want to give my personal impressions of the car and thoughts. I am not trying to trash the car or Mazda. I am just being honest.
[snip]
I have to wait a couple of weeks now for my G37 to be shipped over since there are very few MT made and hardly any in the color I like.

I agree about the RX8's weaknesses. However, i wouldn't compare the G37 with the RX8. I would consider the g37 more of a luxury sports car instead of just a sports car. In my opinion you've upgraded
Congrats with your new purchase and enjoy the new sensation of torque!

people keep talking about RX8 + MODS = SUPERB CAR > (insert car here)
BUT think about it, (insert car here) + MODS = ALSO SUPERB CAR right?
I know the cost of mods for G37 vs RX8, not too shabby on both ends
A nice set of wheels (Volks or Advans)
A nice set of coilovers (KWs or TEIN)
Engine mods (Turbo Kit or Supercharger Kit) *usually comes with everything you'll need*
The money you spend on RX8 you can spend the same amount on (insert car here) and have a superior car as well!
Good choice on G37 but you will miss the RX8.
I surely do miss the RX8 as well even though I have so much more powerful and efficient (28-30mpg on highway avg. 75mph)
I STILL MISS THE 8

Firstly Dean, all the best with your new car and your life with it. It's always really helpful when people compare an old car to a new one, there's lessons for everyone to appreciate. There was so much balance in what you wrote that I find it amazing that people 'felt' the urge to smash you for it. I think you should appreciate that the negative comments you've received come the insecurities of morons; don't take any of them personally. Try not to leave the forums with a sour taste from a few morons received late in the piece. Some people can't help being @ssholes. Also, it seems everyone gets a thrashing when you sell your Rx8.....says a lot for this forum.
Finally, "mysql". You can add supercharger to this, you can add a turbo to that and they will beat a myriad of cars. So what? WHat sort of bs comparsion is that? He's just taking two stock performance cars and giving a headsup for pro's and con's. There's no need to feel threatened.

I don't mind comments like the "RX8 lacks torque", but to say a car isn't a good CAR because it lacks a hard drive, CF reader, ipod connection, hair salon, back massager, 180 degree rotating captain chairs, built in fridge, 52" plasma TV, etc... it annoys me because people have forgotten what the difference is between a car and a computer, or a car and a house.
RX-8 + 3071R turbo = easy 350 whp, and plenty of torque which will put your G37 to shame. In fact, the lowly GReddy turbo beats up the G37.

Anyway, G37 and RX-8's are different kinds of vehicles. Nothing wrong with a touring car, but don't expect it to be as sporty. Enjoy your MPG though

Enjoy your new car. Hopefully Mazda will have something to bring you back 3 years from now. Personally I look forward to owning my cars and keeping them until they are dead, but I also understand why some would want to change up after a few years. Sorry your sendoff has been so harsh.
