Okay, I'm going to humor you a minute and pretend you aren't a troll. Let's see what's wrong with your initial post, shall we?
1. Uses way to much oil, as well as gas.
2. I got outrun the other day by a 11 year old kid on his bicycle.
3. No matter what anyone says, the rotary engine is way to unreliable. Don't give me that its more reliabe than a piston motor crap, you know you are lying to your self if you say it is. I have read many post titles on here that say, Engine Dead at 75K or Engine dead at 65K.
4. And probably the most important. RESALE. No matter how good of deal you get on your RX-8, in the end you ARE gonna be upside down (unless you make payments of $2000 a month payments). I mean if you got a 15K mile car and put another 15k miles on it, BAM car is worth like half.
And you're complaining that you didn't expect to be attacked when you posted this. Just what, exactly, did you expect to happen? You post blatently ignorant statements, and then expect everyone to just sit back and agree with you?
I in no way think my car is perfect. I'd love better gas mileage. I'd love my A/C to be colder. I'd love if it could do 0-60 in under 6 seconds. But what I'd really love are for people like you who insist on perpetuating these incredibly stupid ideas about non-existent problems to actually pay attention before you buy one.

How is everyone in denial? Everyone here knows about the oil and the bad mileage and how it doesn't perform as well as its competitors in straight lines. I think you're the idiot for not knowing those things before purchasing the car

<------actually not everybody....when i first bought the car i didnt know what a rotary engine was, with that said i also came from an s13 that had a lot of miles on it, but KNOWING that a car needs oil i still kept a qt with me in my 240 just to keep it running good....as for me, lucky i found the rx8club.com to give me info on my car and i did a lot of reading the first couple of months i had my 8, it actually gets better gas mileage then my 240 but i also KNEW i need to put oil in every 1k miles or so...

Mouth breathers generally don't understand the appeal of the RX-8.
When the CFO of your company says he likes your car, the guy who chooses between driving the M5, the Jag, or the Porsche to work. Then you are suddenly smacked in the back of the head by the appeal of the RX-8.
/Happened to me today
//Told him he should test drive one and he might like it more then his M5

Stuck in a love triangle
My car is creeping up to 50k miles and not only have I had 0 problems with it, I've never had to add oil once, plus I've got one of the earliest builds (2003). The resale value sucks, but anyone who buys a Mazda with expectations of having decent resale value later on is a complete dumbass. You either buy a car like this with the intention of enjoying it for as long as possible, or you lease.

Man this has been a serious pounding.
Anyway as Elara said the resale actually isn't that bad, and you just don't buy the car to resell.
Repeat after me: You do not buy a car to resell. You do not buy a car to resell.
You buy a car to drive it.
Goooooood.
A car is not stock. It is not an investment that will gain you interest or dividends over time. Value will not increase like on a house. End of story. Wake up, get your head out of your ***, etc. A car will not make you money like a stock / land investment. Not a car that can be had cheaply (like the 8) anyway. Perhaps some ultra expensive, or older collector car could.
About oil. Really? Is that really a valid complaint? Believe it or not I've seen cars that burn more oil than the 8.
I end up going to get an oil change before I even have to add any oil in general.
Maybe it's because I don't put much mileage on it each day, I dunno.
Sometimes I get a grin on my face driving down the road after taking off and switching from 1st all the way to 6th as quick as I can. I actually want to drive the car each day - driving isn't a chore, it's something I look forward to.
When morons are driving like idiots, I can maneuver around them and zoom off.
One time when stopped at an intersection I saw a guy in an s2000 oncoming in the opposite lane. I couldn't see much due to the glare form the sun, but once he got beside me I looked out the window and saw that the guy was rubbernecking - he was staring at me and my 8, lol. People do that all the time.
People at work always want to ride with me when we go anywhere.
There are just a million reasons to love this car.

Not that anyone here needs to be reassured, but I thought the Top Gear review for the 8 was absolutely right on.

however my taste differs from his when it comes to the interior of the 8... he doesnt like it, or the tail lights... i love both.
