I am also ruined when it comes to other cars. I've never really owned a performance car before (well I did have a six cylinder base camero once, but there's no comparision), and will never buy a non-performance car again. I had always mostly thought that a vehicle is a vehicle, it gets you where you're going, some in more luxury than others. Now I see there's a fun factor I never knew about, and my 8 is full of fun.

I bought my RX8 as my winter car. I ride my motorcycle (R1100RT) to work every day (when it's not raining) then I take the 8. At least that was the plan... I've ended up making tons of excuses why I should take the 8 in, instead of the bike. My last car was only getting 5k miles per year, but the 8 has almost 8000 and I just got it in December!

Damn I love it!

My daily ride (75 miles RT) IF it's not raining, snowing, sleeting, foggy, or humid :D

Infinitely easier to keep showroom clean if it never gets wet.

Cheers,

Definitely my daily driver. 25 miles round trip means I only have about 7000 miles on it since Oct '03. :D

I know what you mean! My commute's only about 5 mi each way, so I have to volunteer to drive to lunch and any errand that comes up, just to get some more time with the 8. A hell of a lot of fun to drive.

M flash

do you have the M flash yet? that has really helped my mileage and i hardly ever need to check or add oil. i drive mine pretty aggressively and still get 16-18 mpg. it is very poor by almost any standard but is better than the 13 i used to get.
get the M flash if you have not already! (good performance improvements too)

Definitely a Daily Drive Car! Its just too much fun to drive each day... About the only time I used my Jeep was when there was the chance of ice or snow on the ground! That a car has a mind of its own (the damn computer and being rear wheeled) on the sloppy stuff! Never lost control, but the back end would literally start oscilating.

But again, I love driving it to work on a daily basis. Glad I am in GA now rather than PA. It will now be a year around car!

I got the m flash and my mpg increased from 15 to 18-20. Well worth it. I also drive spirited, but I've learned to drive in the highest gear available and then down shift when needed. This saves a lot. But this is still poor by most new car standards. I love my car, it handles great, has plenty of omphh (but i still want more power, FI here I come, when its available), but the rotary design may be destined to failure if it can't get 30 + mpg in the future when the average car gets 50 or so. Just IMHO.

I wonder how a rotary would do in a small car like a miata or a civic with the engine geared for fuel efficiancy rather than fun? Make it a 1 rotor rather than a 2 and have the fuel heated to a certain temp before being combusted?
