RX-8 cost compared to previous RX-7s, adjusted for inflation
<body>I wanted to find out how the price of the RX-8 would compare to the price of some previous generations of RX-7s, adjusted for inflation so that they can be directly compared. The best I could find was 2001 dollars, so this won't be perfectly accurate, but it should be a close enough estimate. Anyway, here goes...
2004 RX-8
6-speed Base $26,680
6-speed Grand Touring $31,100<font size=1><table border=1>
<tr>
<th>Car</th><th>Original Price</th><th>Adjusted Price</th>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>1979 S</td><td>$6,395</td><td>$16,698</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>1979 GS</td><td>$6,995</td><td>$18,264</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>1985 S</td><td>$8,595</td><td>$14,065</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>1985 GSL-SE</td><td>$16,125</td><td>$26,387</td>
</tr>
<tr><td>1896 Base</td><td>$11,995</td><td>$18,946</td></tr>
<tr><td>1986 GXL</td><td>$16,645</td><td>$26,291</td></tr>
<tr><td>1986 GXL 2+2</td><td>$17,145</td><td>$27,081</td></tr>
<tr><td>1991 Coupe</td><td>$19,335</td><td>$25,158</td></tr>
<tr><td>1991 Convertible</td><td>$27,715</td><td>$36,062</td></tr>
<tr><td>1991 Turbo II</td><td>$26,555</td><td>$34,553</td></tr>
<tr><td>1993 Base</td><td>$32,900</td><td>$39,887</td></tr>
</table></font>(I can't find the MSRP for the R1 or Touring models... anyone know this?)

erk, that's a pretty big price difference... wow. the RX-8 is a fantastic deal, considering how the FD was seen... and an ENOURMOUS deal considering the level of performance the ol' FC's gave ya...
but respect to the el cheapo SA/FB RX-7's!! :D that's my kinda car.
