Question 6'2"--will there be enough head room?

HI Everyone

Great Forum. New here. I drive a '97 Miata, and really like it, but I just barely fit. Seriously thining about the RX-8, but was wondering about its headroom in front. Any tall people actually sat in one at a show or anything? One weird thing is that the newer Miata models seem to have less headroom than my '97, which fits me like a (tight) glove.

Thanks, Joe

I'm 6'4" I own a '90 Miata, and a '01 Miata, and I fit like a nicely formed glove in both of them. I am trading my '01 Miata up to a RX-8. I have sat in one at a local dealership grand opening and I seemed to have fit in it just fine. But it seems that our purportions of legs to torso are different and may make that different for you as well. but as any consolation the RX-8 seemed to have quite a bit more room in the front seats. IMO don't plan on you sitting in the back seat though.

At the Houston Auto Show, the spokesman was about 6'2" and 190lbs and he fit in the back alright.

The front seat was in an intermediate position (not all the way back or forward) and the guy had enough leg room in the back. Headroom was a little tight though.

If you take the car out for a double date - girls in the back, guys in the front. Should be plenty of room with people sitting in that fashion.

I sat in the RX-8 @ Detroit and I'm 6'5". The in the front I fit pretty well, but the top of the seat is not comfortable because my head went to high. A lot of new cars have this problem. I drive a '87 RX-7 Turbo II and it's probably slightly tighter, but the seat works better for people out of the "normal" range. The rear seats are not usable. Cars such as the '87 dodge colt, firefly and '97 firefly have WAY more room in the back.
