Requesting advice regarding 2004 RX8 GT
Hello,
I was hoping some RX8 owners might be able to give me some advice here. I went test driving a 2004 RX8 GT yesterday and fell in love with the dang thing. It only has 63,000km on it and the lot is asking $19k.
I've been doing a lot of reading on this board and it sounds like everyone is pretty satisfied. So my question would be, how is the wear and tear on these things when they're already five years old? I also have read that I would need to use premium every time I fill up, is that true? How does the mileage work when these cars get older? Is it true I would have to change the oil or at least check the oil every second time I fill it up? What about repairs? This car seems to be in great shape but is it common to have major repairs on these models?
So, if you're me, and looking at an RX8 for an every day car in snowy Canada, is this something you would recommend or might it be wise for me to stay with my 2000 Nissan Altima (great condition and low mileage, already paid for etc).
Thanks!

1st 19k it pretty high can definately get one cheaper....
The wear and tear is good personally as long as you do maintenance it should be good to go
You DO NOT have to CHANGE the oil every 2 fillups just check it every 2 fillups until u know about how much u use....i know my car well enough that i check it about every 800 or 1000 miles......
And for the snow I recommend a winter beater(or keeping the altima) but lots on here use the 8 in snow and jus tget soem good winter tires!
as for any other ?'s just use the search function and u will find everythig u ned

check autotrader or cars.com and compare. I believe he is talking 19K Canadian dollars seeing the mileage in km check the exchange rates but I got an 04 Touring 52k miles for $13000 USD.

First, thanks for your replies. It is indeed in Canadian funds, so about $16,700 in American funds. I know that's a bit expensive, but with my trade in he said he could bump it down. I checked auto trader and for some reason I think they sell for more in Canada as the dealerships price is pretty well the same as most others here.
From what I've read it sounds like with some good winter tires the car will still handle well.
Has anti-theft been a concern for anyone? I'm moving to Windsor (just next to Detroit) and the economy there is pretty bad. Thinking a nice car like the RX8 might be targeted in a poor area...

The car itself should be fine as far as wear and maintenance go. No major surprises or big costs. But, for a snowy areas you need winter tires, and they detract quite a bit from the performance / handling of the car. It's still a lot of fun, but nothing like with hi-performance summer tires.
