Reliable or not?

could anyone tell me if RX8 is going to be reliable or not? The engine especailly? How about the oil changes? how often do i have to change engine oil? Is oil changing going to be expensive or not? I had just put a deposit around 2 weeks ago and i dont know if the car is going to be realiable or not? It's really important to me because this is going to be the first car that i buy....thanks

For the most part, every post in this thread will be speculation. Yes, people can say the engine should be more reliable because of less moving parts, etc. In the end, however, it really comes down to how you take care of your vehicle. Drive it right, break it in well, and keep up on maintanence and it should last fine...of course, so should most cars.

As for the oil changes, I'm sure that the standard 3 months/3000 miles will be enough. I doubt Mazda would build the car around non-standard procedure...but realize that it takes 7 quarts (supposedly, according to another thread around here) of oil...so oil changes won't be cheap.

I am hoping for a substantiallly longer period than that considerable the few moving parts. Hoping for 18/ 24 months or 12k miles.

As for first car, rotary would not be my choice, especially in RX7 or 8 looks. Depending on your age but besides the costs of insurance, service etc and you may well be targetted by the police in such a car.
