Reliability of 07s vs. earlier models

I've seen several threads here about people having problems with their RX8s.

A lot of them seem to be from the earlier cars.

Has anyone come to a consensus or general opinion whether these general problems seem to be more concentrated in the earlier model year cars like 04s and 05s or if they are problems with ALL RX8s regardless of how new they are?

I'm looking into an 07. a lease. so i'd own an 07 from 0 miles to 36k miles...and turn it in. so it would be a newer model that will never see more than 36k on the odometer at least while i own it. my gut is that i'll have a lower liklihood of these problems occuring... but you guys tell me...

are some 07s total problem cars with flooding, engine malfunctions, and other "problems' that I wouldn't have if say I bought a Mazdaspeed 6 or some other car.??

First year model of ANY car will ALWAYS have more problems than later year model. Yep, it happens to every single car line-ups out there

u didnt search hard enough. btw

Again, EVERY SINGLE GOD DAMN LINE-UPS will have their own engine malfunctions, and other problems. Rx8, Mazdaspeed 6, Civic, Camry, everything !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus christ man.

I second what Nycgps says. BTW, just because you get an 07 doesn't mean it'll be perfect. There are no such things as problem free cars. BTW you can still flood an 07 if you have a cold start and then just shut it off right away before reaching its normal operating temp. The 07 however should have the latest updates done and should theortically be better than an 04 or 05 model...Since most of the issues on an 04/05 have been addressed on 07 models.

How could anyone guess the reliability of an 07? Chances are it will be a good model year since there have been no major changes from the 04-07 (except for the ATs).

keep in mind that with the proper update,(recalls, TSBs)the 04/05/06 are no difrerent than the 07 .... well besides the oil vent kit and the year model, thats about it I think.

We get your point but it would be great if you could say it without using God's name in vain!!!!

I'm sure the 07's are fine

I dont' recall reading anything about 06 recalls or problems, and really, I've had barely any issues with my 04

Technically, some of the 06's were involved in that voluntary "emission" recall... AKA: engine recall

and the flooding issue has been on every rotary powered car since they were put into production 30+ years ago.

So it is not like it is a new issue with just the RX-8. Its just there are a lot more first time rotary owners with the RX-8 that don't know the past.

All cars have issues. It is about whether your service center will take care of you an fix your car properly and honor the warranty.

My 04 (03 build) has never had problems, so take that. I can't say the same about the 04 automatic I also had, but that's cause I drove the **** out of that tranny due to frustration with the thing.
