Dirty MAF sensor?
Coils?

i'd have someone look at it if you're down to 8 mpg. we can guess all day long but unless you have someone look at it, we'll just be listing out every possible thing that could go wrong with any car.

I wouldn't even bother with that low of milage. Take it into Mazda and let them do a complete rundown. Don't accept it back until they find out why it's getting 10 MPG under rated...

That's excessively low....even for an 8!

This is the major problem... I would say that obviously take it in to fix this problem, and that the gas milages is related to this.

Did you check the air in your tires?

Make sure your sparkplug wires are attached well and aren't split.

Bwahaha another joins my cult... erm club I mean club hehe..

If your feel like you have no umph at all your CAT might of **** the bed and still not of thrown the CEL yet. Not sure why it is but I've read a few times of CAT's going and no CEL being thrown at all. Bring the car in and ask to take a Tech for a ride along and tell them whats going on and exactly what you mean.

Again I'm part of the crap mile per gallon club also do you have a A/T or a Manual?

Oh one more thing check your air filter box see if there is oil in the intake which in turn most likely got the MAS dirty. Well good luck

Sounds like your maf is dirty. People have had problems with it being dirty and they got terrible mileage and poor performance. Inspect and clean it.

MAKE them help. Don't take no for an answer. If it is under warranty, it's their problem, not yours.

A source could be your useing Walmarts gas. That gas sucks, I tried it once and I got half my regular gas milage than if I went to Shell or QuickTrip

I know there was a recall about 3 months or so ago about loss of engine power in higher temperature climates. Are you in a desert area?

If so, your CAT might be clogged, which would cause poor power, and even bad gas mileage.

Let me say from personal experience and over 40 total phone calls and talking to every person and Mazda NA that many times this is not possible. The dealer simply will say you dont have a problem and that your car is ready to be returned.

Hopefully you have a better dealer than me.

it's a sad reality too...but I wouldn't go down without a GOOD fight on a car of such value.

Mazda --> <-- 8 owners

yea that's right...we like it like that
